Mrs. Bart and I have two friends who bought a place in Arizona on the US-Mexico border a few years back and they have had repeated problems with regular Mexican Army units crossing the very heavily marked border and coming onto their property. In 2001/2002 or so they were held at gunpoint by these vermin and their daughter called out the sheriff's dept. and then the whole thing got nasty when the Mexicans aimed their rifles at the lone deputy who retreated. He then called the Arizona National Guard who responded with Cobra attack helicopters. At which point the Mexicans retreated after dropping their rifles as ordered by the fellows driving the attack choppers.
Since then we've heard tell of several more incursions on their property but since that first time our friends fire shots over the heads of the Mexican soldiers while simultaneously calling the sheriff and Border Patrol. Eventually, someone is going to get hurt.
Would your friends be interested in some old coyote, fox traps. You know the kind that clamps onto the leg, not very humane? Could probably dig up a pile of Grandpa's old traps...
