Yes, I know there's a dedicated topic for this kind of shit but this one stands out from the rest. The Jewish girl who just recovered from a fucking brain tumor gets curb stomped by the fucking animals in the TSA??? Oh, fuck no! PDT_Armataz_01_35

Full title:

$1:
Hannah Cohen, a young disabled woman whose mother describes as “partially deaf, blind in one eye, paralyzed and easily confused,” was beaten by Transportation Security Agents (TSA) after her flight home.

The young woman was then led from the Memphis International Airport, beaten, bloodied, bruised, and in handcuffs — and then booked into jail.

Cohen was returning home to Chattanooga after receiving treatment for her brain tumor at St. Jude’s Hospital. In fact, Hannah Cohen was returning home after receiving her final treatment for the brain tumor, and this trip back from St. Jude’s just marked one of many, as she has been flying back and forth from St. Jude’s Hospital for years. But instead of being able to celebrate the completion of her treatment, Hannah Cohen and her mother were subjected to rough handling and inexplicable treatment from the TSA and its agents, as well as local police in Memphis.

The story is a disturbing one.

Cohen, who is 19-years-old, apparently set off the metal detector at a TSA security checkpoint screening. She was led away from additional screening — and that’s when things began to go horribly wrong.

Hannah’s mother, Shirley Cohen, did what any mother — especially the mother of a disabled person — would do. She attempted to step in, trying to explain to the TSA agents that Hannah may need further consideration and help in understanding what was occurring to her.

“They wanted to do further screening, but [Hannah] was reluctant — she didn’t understand what they were about to do,” said Shirley Cohen.

Hannah’s mother attempted to relay to the TSA agents that her daughter is partially deaf, partially blind, paralyzed, and easily confused, as well as undergoing treatment for a brain tumor, but reported that instead of listening, police actively sought to keep her separated from her disabled daughter, who was being escorted away by the security agents.

Hannah, no doubt confused and absolutely terrified, attempted to break free of the agents, and the TSA agents then took the disabled young woman to the ground — violently.

“She’s trying to get away from them, but in the next instant, one of them had her down on the ground and hit her head on the floor,” Cohen said, recounting the moment TSA agents tackled her disabled daughter and threw the young woman to the ground.

“There was blood everywhere.”

(the next section can't be copied: Summary - the girl was beaten, handcuffed, and jailed.)

“Here we were with nowhere to go, not even a toothbrush, our bags had gone to Chattanooga,” said Shirley Cohen.

Authorities later threw out the charges, local news station WREG reported, but the Cohen family has filed a lawsuit against the Memphis Airport, Airport Police, and the Transportation Security Administration.

This horseshit does not make us more secure. It just pisses me off and makes me have very unkind thoughts about the TSA.

Your TSA can go fuck themselves. As can your border patrol. I used to cross the border quite a lot. Not anymore. Life is too short to deal with power tripping assholes.

Not just Americans. Most total asshole love uniforms.
Like pit bulls. Not every pit bull owner is an asshole, but all total assholes own at least one pit bull.

Beyond Bart's obvious cop/badge hate, I don't see the problem here.

She's 19. She's not mentally retarded. She has some disabilities but there's no reason she decided to ignore commands from the TSA and run from them. You don't get a pass just because you don't understand what's going on.

FWIW, Canadian border guards are FAR worse than the Americans. I've never had a problem with the US side, always Canadian side.

Man, you are one heartless bastard.
$1:
Hannah’s tumor, and numerous surgeries and treatments since she was two years old, had left her easily confused and frightened in unfamiliar situations.

You really don't have any ability to put yourself in another's place, do you?

The mother needed to take proper steps to secure her child if in fact the disability may have interfered with travel; any point of the travel.

TSA guards don't know the medical history of every single man or women that decides to argue, struggle and run. These arrangements need to be made prior to flying not in the middle of an altercation.

It's unfortunate what happened. It truly is. However, if mom had of made some pre-arrangements, this wouldn't have happened.

As both mom and daughter said, they'd gone thru security 16 times, so had no reason to think this time would be different. Do guards really have to kick the shit out of a confused 18 y.o. girl to get her to comply?

She's not a girl. She's an adult. She's 19.

She didn't get the shit kicked out of her, she was tackled and arrested, as she should have been. They don't stop and evaluate previous medical history before such an event takes place.

She was 18 at the time. She doesn't took like an Amazon - they could have subdued were with much less force.

So easy to say behind a computer.

She failed to comply, was tackled and arrested.

Too bad.

How do you know this? More likely someone was power tripping and used as much force as they thought they could get away with.

She was recovering from brain surgery and was half crippled. Did those heroes at the TSA think she was going commit Jihad?

Makes me wonder what'll happen next time I go through an airport in the US with my ankle full of metal.

Just a horrible story.

Of course it's easy. It's what should have taken place.

Half crippled? Did you make that up?

Second, how does the TSA know any of this? Do we assume that anyone that acts out in an airport that runs from security might have a mental or physical disability and just handle them with kid gloves?

Hell no.

The family should have taken proper steps to ensure the TSA and the airline were aware of their daughters disabilities because to the TSA, it's just some woman looking to get away from them. A simple TSA Notification Card would have avoided all of this.
