DerbyX DerbyX: Sorta like Mulroney getting called a Liberal? Seems whenever a conservative dissapoints they get shunted to the Liberals.
I guess it's the worst punishment they can imagine--exile to Liberal Land. A nice way to dodge responsibility too: "Oh it wasn't our fault. the frickin' liberals dressed up one of their own as a conservative." (a sheep in wolf's clothing?) "How were we supposed to know?"

N_Fiddledog N_Fiddledog: There was this woman on CNN last night talking about how many of Bush's policies were socialist. I don't know enough about it to have an opinion, but something to consider I guess. There appears to be confusion on where exactly Bush fits on the political teeter totter. I'll give you a small hint: HE'S A CONSERVATIVE!

Don't blame the messenger man. I'm just telling you what this Democrat commentator said on CNN. She said many of his policies were socialist.

I've been saying that for some time. Conservatism, at least contemporary conservatism, and socialism are not mutually exclusive realms. Neoconservatives are big on war and huge state security apparatus. Well, who pays for all that--the taxpayer! Zipperism of the Day: It's just three short letters from social conservative to socialist conservative.

Zipperfish Zipperfish: sandorski sandorski: No dude, it's Carter and Clinton's fault. Poor Dubyah is the victim!! No it's worse. Now, according to the conservatvies, Dubya is a LIBERAL! Hehe, ya I've seen that on another Forum. For 7 years the exact same Posters defended Bush with all they had and lambasted the critics as "Liberals". Then when they could no longer deny the total suckage that is Bush, he suddenly is a "Liberal". They support McCain, although he's pretty much towing the Bush line. Obama, OMG, "Liberal!". To Pavlovs dog, the Bell means Food. To contemporary "Conservatives", the Bell means Bad.

Obama who's, I guess, considered liberal get accused of socialism. Is there a difference between conservative socialism, and liberal socialism? Hey, I just thought of something. This is kind of funny. Sarah Palin is actually the only true candidate for "change" in this election, because she's not for any kind of socialism.

Well, I think she's in favour of a lot of money going to the military--again, paid for by the taxpayer. But apart from that, she probably is the least socialist of the bunch. The conservative/liberal divide in the US these days is primarily moral. Fiscal conseravatism / fiscal liberalsim seem to be passe terms. I think the main difference between a neoconservative socialist and a liberal socialist is that a liberal socialist likes government workers that don't have guns, and a conservative socialist likes government workers with guns.

Did you ever see that South Park episode where Cartman has to do a school history project, so he gets himself konked on the head, because in this way he can flash back in time to the day of the founding fathers and discover if they'd be for the war, or against it? What he discovers is the founding fathers wanted both militants, because otherwise they'd get walked all over, and pussies, to show America had a heart. Anyway pretty hilarious, and dead-on as is usual with South Park.

The Republicans winning won't change anything. The liberals won't run away. They'll continue to bitch.
What is worrying is if the Democrats win, specifically Obama. With all the wing nuts, and passionate closet racists, I wonder how many may feel like Canada is a good destination for them.
I shudder at the thought.
