Reason: poor parents and weak minds.

Those two were not the first kids to be bullied in the history of high school yet they chose to kill. Worthless.

In their twisted minds they seemed to think that being bullied justified their reaction. Cpould their murderous rampage have been avoided or would they have found some other reason to go on a killing spree? I don't know for sure, but likely they would have made headlines later in life.

The two boys involved at Columbine were actually just the standouts in a phenomenon that involved outcast children striking back against their tormentors.

I recall the media having their usual psychobabble guests talking about this problem and they correctly identified the children perpetrating these crimes as being provoked by unceasing bullying from their peers *and* even in some cases the bullying was also coming from the teachers at their schools.

What would you think the solution would be?

1) Put an end to the bullying of students in the schools with severe penalties against those found persecuting a peer and then to either train or dismiss faculty who supported by action or inaction the same bullying?

2) Find the kids who are victims of such extreme and illegal behavior and lock them up to prevent them from striking back at their tormentors?

If you chose #2 then I must assume that you're some bastard with a Ph.D. in child psychology who works for a school district.

Because #2 was the solution being proffered in the media.

Now I'm not saying that I support what these kids did, not at all. But I can say that I understand.

They were ostracized, bullied, and then victimized again by the faculty members whom the taxpayers entrust to protect their children for eight hours a day, five days a week. They had no where to turn and that creates desperation.

Unlike the thousands of children every year who simply kill themselves rather than face another day of school, Klebold and Harris fought back.

Believe it or not, they weren't the first nor were they the last to do such a thing.

Nov. 8, 2005
Jacksboro, Tenn. One 15-year-old shot and killed an assistant principal at Campbell County High School and seriously wounded two other administrators.

All of these events were perpetrated by current or recent students of their schools and in all of these events the perpetrator was later identified as having sought help from faculty with peer bullying at one point or another.

And in every case the student was rebuked for having sought help.

If you are a weird kid in a public school then you can anticipate that you are on your own should one of the "cool" kids or a cabal of the cool kids decide to torment you for their personal gratification.

Speaking for myself, in 1997 my wife and I had more or less adopted a young lady from our church who was very shy but really a sweet kid from a broken home. She was having issues at her high school and was one day suspended from school because three other girls had attacked her.

Only when I brought legal action against the school district and the individual and several faculty members for malfeasance (which I could hold them personally accountable for) was the matter addressed.

One of the girls who attacked our young friend had a boyfriend who came to my house to threaten us. He still walks funny, last I checked.

So where is my young friend now?

She is 26 and a successful special effects makeup artist in Los Angeles.

But way back when she was on the verge of suicide.

And the school that should've been a sanctuary for her from the troubles in her life was worse itself then all of the hell she faced at home.

And some fucktard would've identified her as marginalized and then victimized her yet again to protect the SOB's who were making her life hell.

Why we in this world cavalierly allow our children to be submitted to physical and psychological tortures in the public schools that we won't allow murderous terrorists to be submitted to in Gitmo and Abu Gharaib escapes reason.
