The more I read and observe, the more I'm growing to think that moderate Muslims either passively accept terrorism, at best, or quietly support it at worst. I wish I didn't have that feeling, but I do. :(

Lemmy I've been saying/feeling the same for years. Welcome to the club.

I don't think so, Brenda. This is just my intuition, but I think most Muslims (or at least a significant percentage) SAY they denounce violence against the infidels but are mostly being politically correct and polite.

To put it in a less PC way, you think "they" or should I say "we" are just being good house niggers ?

Lemmy Lemmy:
The more I read and observe

What exactly have you been reading and observing lately Lemmy, please do share.

No, misinformed at best and extremely biased at worst.

Interesting approach for a scientist.

Granted. I made it clear in my original statement that I was expressing my intuition, nothing more. On the other hand, I can tell you that when you've spent 20 years in an interracial marriage, you get a good sense of reading when people are thinly veiling their true feelings. Or maybe I'm a paranoid racist.

Perplexing and disappointing.

Gunnair Gunnair:

If you have a problem with Canadians not rallying around you particular topic of ire, then you need to deal. Posting this with an expectation that everyone is going to share your passing rage of the moment is just plain silly and arrogant.

As well, since you've opted to toss out that very tired old American chestnut of free speech........free speech allows you to post it, free speech allows me to comment on it.

Get over yourself here.

I never go on any forum expecting anyone to agree with,or rally around anything I say. That would be you making shit up,and putting words in my mouth. What I was doing was engaging in a back and forth conversation with Brenda,(an on topic conversation I might add). Now Brenda has never been accused of not being able to stand up for herself. She can take it,and dish it out with anyone on any forum. I respect Brenda. She stated her opinion on the matter, and I stated mine. Neither was insulting the other. I never demanded that Brenda agree with me. Brenda was voicing her opinion on the topic at hand: terrror suspects receiving welfare benefits. So far all I have seen you contribute to the thread is to point out the obvious fact that this is indeed a Canadian forum. That is not the first time that you have said that to me. This may be a Canadian forum, but you don't own it. You are a guest on here, same as me. People on this forum are free to discuss American topics if they choose too. So you deal with it!

You have an opinion on terror suspects receiving welfare benefits? Than by all means opine away. If you are tired of reading threads about U.S. Politics (or drug legalization, wealth redistribution, minimum wage,etc.etc.), than don't read them! Its simple. You are always telling people on this forum that you are tired of reading their posts. Than don't read them! You get over youself! Get a new hobby.

I seriously don't get you. Sometimes you are brilliant on this forum. You have these streaks where you are knocking everything out of the park. You put together well thought out, logical posts (whether I agree or not, they are good posts). Then you go into these valleys where you are bored, and you seem to think its everyone else's job to entertain you. Its not!

You still seem to think that the free speech ends with your submission, or if not that, at least with any glad handing posts that agree with it. I don't care if you're posting an American topic in an American topic thread, if I choose to comment on it, I will. If that then means you fly off into a fit of pique, make up unsubstantiated lies to buttress up your bug tantrum here, then have at it. I don't really care.

Squawk away in today's flavour of indignation for you if you must.

Not sure why you or anyone else should feel shame about developing certain reflexes and having your instincts heightened thanks to the repeated bad behaviour of others. The same guy smacking the same people over the head with same 2 x 4 over and over again is someone to be avoided, or destroyed, and isn't worth a second of the root causes arguments designed to justify his actions or intentions. You're not obligated as a civilized person to make yourself feel bad because you have an inner moral block that keeps you from making nonsensical excuses for savages, maniacs, and killers.

You're right, that guy (in the hoodie for example) with the 2 x 4 is to be avoided or destroyed. When you move on to view all men in hoodies as having the potential to wield the 2 x 4 then you've entered a different reality.

Bang on. + rep if I could.

In my book American participation is more tham welcome.

I wish we had more Europeans in this forum. I've seen some good perspectives from them elsewhere.

I fight that feeling all the time. There seem to be some good reasons to think that way.

Unsound Unsound:
Gunnair Gunnair:

The vast majority of people on this board are not your fellow citizens since this is a Canadian board.

Put an add in the local paper to find your misplaced ire.

Post this on Free Republic if you're hoping for a rallying of the enraged around this banner.

That's not really fair. There's probably at least as much discussion of American affairs here as Canadian. And not always, or even mostly, at the instigation of our American members.

I think it's fair. I go visit another Canadian chat site sometimes, because this place becomes to reminiescent of Free Republic.

Alas, he was on his way out of here when I was on my way in. GHod, that's gotta be how long ago since I first posted? 7 years? Longer? Sheesh!

If he's on this other site, he's going by a different name now.
