I did not know you liked wild meat. Interesting to know. We're crossing our fingers for elk, but I know there'll be no shortage of Bambi's hittin' the freezer.

Good compositions QBC. HDR is perfect for these shots! Did you shoot in RAW?

No, I didn't. I have a Fuji Finepix s700 that I take in the boats and hunting. It only shoots in jpeg. I use this camera cause one: it's reasonably compact, two: it takes pretty good photos for a "point and shoot" 10x optical and 7.1 mp, three: if this falls in the water (or I fall in the water... ) or gets stomped by a moose it's only $250-350 to replace... I couldn't imagine having a really nice DSLR with a great lens going over board. I know damn well that I would get misty eyed.... (and far too often we are in places and situations where any of those things could happen)

Have a look at the g11 or g12. They are $500 but small, reasonably rugged and give you HD video (G12) and the ability to use RAW and shoot manually.

These are the compact cameras that photogs carry. (Unless they are very rich then they get the Lieca M9 and a 6K lens!)

Going to places with such natural beauty begs for a camera that can take advantage of those stunning locations!

Hmmmm...the only thing about that camera (G12) that might be an issue is the zoom. 5x would not be great for wildlife shots and such. Other then that, sounds great and at a price that won't break the bank. Have to give it some thought and compare it to competitors models in that class. Thanx though, I really didn't think there was an in between class. Rosie's gonna hate ya now.....
