Depends which type of game I'm in the mood for - if I'm interested in watching a more conservative game that features lots of running plays, then the NFL. But if I want a fast-paced, no-holds barred game based largely on throwing, then it's the CFL.
Most days, it's CFL for me.
Not much running in the NFL these days, I'd almost say there's more in the CFL. You'll see a lot more of it in college.
Go back a few years and the defensive line was large and slow... a fact that did not go unnoticed by the running game. To counter this, the defensive line lost a few pounds, put on a lot of muscle and the guys have gotten much faster... which makes it a lot harder to get a running game going.
It's become a passing game, on both sides of the border.
I don't know about that.
I'll fully agree that rushing yards are down, but the number of times the team runs the ball is, on average, higher than in the CFL.
I didn't watch any NFL games yesterday (I'm nominally a Bengals fan and they play tonight), but just a quick glance at the box scores shows that in many games, close to half of the plays (for at least one team, sometimes both) were rushing plays.
In the CFL, it's closer to a quarter of plays are rushing ones. Admittedly, that's largely due to the three downs game vs four downs game, but rushing still plays a huge part in NFL games, at least when compared to the CFL.
http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/boxscore?gid=20120909012In that game, Atlanta ran the ball 23 of 55, while KC ran it 33 of 69 times.
Even teams with star QBs like the Patriots and Cowboys ran it close to 50% of the time. I agree not ALL NFL teams are so pre-disposed, but I'd bet that close to half of them are, which means that odds are if you watch a game on Sunday, you're going to see a lot of running.
Also I'd bet the NFL passes are more likely to be short-yardage passes.
