Man the Russians got some money. They will come here and snap up literally dozens of luxury cars in one go, all cash. And when the property boom was a at a peak, they would gobble up property at inflated prices without any qualms.
I remember we did an exclusive trip for a Russian Client, 6 people, hired 3 Land Cruisers, our biggest desert camp exclusively for them. fireworks to match sydney harbors new year celebrations. showered the belley dancer with 100 US bills. Had gourmet meals from a five star ordered in the middle of the desert, lobster and all. All the while having a private jet on standy by.
Chinese have yet to make a mark here in a major way, although they were inching an way into the construction bussiness here.
Countries like Russia and China have always had very rich and powerful people, in the past they were restricted in their movements, and with the revolutions in the 30s they had their wealth stolen.
Now those rich have regained their wealth, they're not going to keep it in a potentially unsafe place.
They know places like Dubai, London, Paris, Macau, etc are great to invest wealth in. The Russians in Dubai run schemes too, I know quite a few myself. These guys don't play. They run the weapons game, the prostitution game, they moved into hospitality too. Are they still running Hotels in Sharjah?
As for the Chinese, they will run Vancouver in a decade here. Once the street gang battles are over and the dust settles, the drug trade will be in their hands. Hell's Angels are getting cornered and demographically destroyed. The real estate business is already Chinese run. Some Vancity properties aren't even listed for sale in Canadian MLS listings. They are sold to Hong Kong'ers are mainlanders directly through Chinese listings.
There's trillions waiting to erupt out of China and Russia, Sub Saharan Africa too. The Nigerians are taking over southern Italy rapidly. The drug/prostitition is already falling into Nigerian Mafia hands. Construction is sure to follow. 2009 there was a gang war between the Comorra and Nigerian from Edo on the streets, ended in truce with Nigerians paying Italian Mafia to control the drug/prosty trade for peace. Nigerians from Edo are buying up properties in the south of Italy quickly. They run the illegal boat business too, bringing migrants for a fee to European shores.
I'm suprised the Indians aren't doing the foreign venture take over schemes like the Chinese/Russians/Africans etc. Must be something going on in India to keep the money inside.
