Jeez. And I thought the little chipmunks running all over the place around here were annoying...

Game wardens forced to shoot alligator

Anita and Charlie Rogers could hear the bellowing in the night. Her neighbors in Bar X Ranch had been telling them they had seen a giant alligator in the bayou that runs behind their house, but they dismissed the stories as exaggerations.

"I didn't believe it," Charles Rogers said.

Friday they realized the stories were, if anything, understated. Texas Parks and Wildlife game wardens had to shoot the beast.

Joe Goff, a game warden with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, walks past a 13-foot, 1-inch alligator that he shot and killed in the back yard of the home at the Bar X Ranch on FM 521 near West Columbia.

"She wore a yellow ribbon..." (old Texas song).

She Wore a Yellow Ribbon

Around her neck
She wore a yellow ribbon,
She wore it in the springtime
And in the month of May.
And if you asked her
Why the heck she wore it,
She'd say "It's for my lover
Who is far, far away".

Refrain:
Far away!
Far away!
She wore it for her lover far away.
Around her neck she wore a yellow ribbon.
She wore it for her lover who is far, far away.

Seems the stories in Texas are as big as the gator: http://www.texarkanagazette.com/article ... news02.txt

The same photo was used to describe a gator capture near Orlando, FL...

This is a REAL photo, taken by my friend on a tower about 15 miles from our home near the Everglades:

Up for a swim?
