Beautiful, and far away from all the urban villainy, but when it comes to backwoods Canada all I can think is "look at all those fucking mosquitos". :|

Breezy out and there's a current so not too bad at all most of the time. It's worse sitting out on the deck BBQing.

I haven't golfed much over the last decade or so because of injuries but if I get better I want to go back to it. The thing is that the mosquitos at one course left me with a permanent bad image. We were waiting at the tee box. The group in front of us just set out and were walking up the fairway. As they did the mosquitos rose up out of the grass all around them. It must have been some kind of a trick of the light because the waves of them going in for the attack looked like some kind of unrolling of a carpet to me. Pissed me off big time, as did the ensuing dozen or so bites I ended up with, and it's stuck with me since.

There's two things that piss me off about summer in Canada. One is when it gets excessively hot and humid because I don't just perspire, I sweat like a rain storm. The second is the mosquitos. I hate both so much it's pretty much driven me indoors. I had one job up near McMac where both one day were so awful I nearly started freaking out from them. Pretty sure now that it's beyond a dislike or discomfort and grown into a genuine hate-filled phobia for both.

Our youngest reacts quite severely to certain mosquito bites. He needs to take anti histamines because he's essentially allergic to them....severe swelling, blisters and low grade fever. It only seems to be one type though.

Nice park about an hours drive from here... a bit less "Boreal" than yours, Shep. Hard to believe that this is the same river that goes through CFB Valcartier. :D

We get boil water advisories a couple times a year. The water on this creek is actually more tea coloured, but the sky makes it look blue. It's still pretty crystal clear, and a good fishing spot because of the deep pools.....it's just a pain in the ass for me to get to.

I just spent 2 days standing out in a field. I saw coyotes, moose, rabbits. And not one mosquito. And I was 300m from a swamp!
