Right on what?

That he's a farmer whos commenting on Alberta's energy industry and knows very little about it except that it's Alberta so it must be a rallying point to gather around to hate the province?
Plus it may have ties with the USA?(double bonus?)

Like I told Newfett, this east/west thing died a long time ago out here in the west, trying to milk it makes your agenda and bias shine right through like a beacon and your point is lost amongst your hatred.

I've never been employed by an American company and I've worked for quite a few. Big companies, players in Canada long before Mulroney.

point is the US doesnt give a shit about Canada.. its all about what they can get and how they can screw us on free trade.. and when ever there is a tory in power they know they can suck us in....
try this one.....US Defense Secretary Robert Gates unleashed a storm on Wednesday by criticizing NATO forces in southern Afghanistan, saying they were ill-prepared to fight an insurgency..Gates' rare public criticism triggered surprise in NATO and among US allies, and came a day after the United States decided to send 3,200 extra troops to Afghanistan.

Canadian Defense Minister Peter MacKay on Wednesday played down the criticism, saying Gates had just told him by telephone the remarks were "taken out of context."

Foreign investment could still play a role, but all investment would have to serve the interests of Canada first. If they wanted to conform to those rules they could do quite well along with Canadian investment. We would produce wealth in terms of currency, dependant on the wealth produced from natural resourse based industries. I don't want our country dependant on foreign investment I want the economic power of this country to feature canadian investment either private or public and preferrably a lot more public investment

Did you just wake up and crawl out from under a rock DG?
You been in there what? twenty years?

As much as I was against NAFTA when it first raised it's head it's not the end of Canada like some predicted.
I take it that's what your going on about.

The energy industry juniors would love some American investment,it enables them to drill more wells and put more Albertans(including people from other provinces)to work.

You should go pound back a couple of Molsons, smoke a fattie and put some tragically hip on,come back to the fold DG.Your starting to sound like oh pee pee.

I-C-U I-C-U:
Uncle Sam didn't have a gun to your leaders head that made him sign NAFTA...Canada knew it was in their interest not to go against the U.S. And further more that agreement is a stepping stone towards a united continent, which is a whole other story..
A stronger canadian dollar is actually more detrimental to the economy. Kind of a funky situation to be in .
And 30 000 000 is a drop in a bucket, especially in relation to you guys being the worlds second largest country.
When you look at India and China , canada just pales in comparison. Trading with canada is more convenient given the location and same standards and all.. But as China's population starts to have more wealth, the buying power of that country alone will be like a tidal wave.. Look at everything you have. The odds are about 70% of it came from China..
The American car companies just negotiated with the UAW last year which now makes it cheaper to build in their own country than canada.

Well if it werent for the major American employers in canada that employ canadians to produce the majority of goods for a country with a larger population, you probably wouldnt be working where you are....Keep in mind also that many former canadian corporations are now American owned or American controlled, such as CCM and CN for example............

lol..someone needs to a lil more research before opening mouth and inserting foot...just because
a wealthy industrialist purchases a plant or operation in Canada doesn't mean our country works
for you. Did they buy it and relocate it south of the boarder...no

How many of our doctors and nurses are working down south..shall we recall them..

and how about NASA ...I think we should change its name since it was and still is put on the map
with CANADIAN minds at the helm...

Have a nice day :D

I had no idea that Werner von Braun and his team from Peenemunde were Canadians. Thank you for the info.

Since when to Liberals give a shit what the Americans think. It wasn't too long ago when Bush thanked Canadian troops that Liberals got their panties in a knot.

Accusing Harper of being Bush's puppet is the favorite pass time of some people around here.
