I understand – your question is interesting as it would be unbelievable to trace your lineage back to such rare historical circumstances. That’s why I’m interested to hear more information.

I'm a third generation born-Canadian on my mother's side. My maternal great grandfather immigrated from Aberdeen, Scotland to Quebec.

On my father's side, I'm really not sure how long the family's been here. I know I have a book on the family genealogy somewhere but it currently eludes me.

My grandfather immigrated to Canada from Denmark & met my grandmother who also immigrated from England.

My maternal grandparents were of Irish & Scottish decent.

I immigrated to Sweden in 1990 & still keep my nationality ... when i first made the move, there wasn't dual citizenship allowed. Since it's changed I've applied to become a Swede :D So in another month I'll be a dual.

I've applied for our kids to become Canadians ... this should take another 6 months.

Dad's side: grandmother came from scotland last name Dobbie. my grandfather came from birmingham england, last name Seeley. They came over in the 20s, i think. settled in selkirk, mb.

Mom's side: the bouvier's came over here in the 1700's with a french soldier. starting in the 1800's, almost all lived around gravelbourg, sk.

English grandad would have been 102 this year. a full 30 years older than french grandad.

My folks came here from England in 1965 as a young married couple looking for a better life for them and their future children. They found it!

My honey's grandparents came to Canada from Holland sometime shortly after WWII looking for a better life. They found it!

I'd also like to hear more from Arctic_Menace about his ancestors!

My French forebear settled on the Côte de Beaupré near Québec city in 1618. Seven years later, a brother joined him from France. They were then called les Canadiens but today, his descendants call themselves Québécois.

Actually, it's the contrary. They are remaining true to their roots and origins.

One side from English descent escaping the American Revolution into Upper Canada and settling near Niagara Falls after earning U.E.L (United Empire Loyalist) status and being awarded Crown grant land of 1800 acres along both sides of 20 Mile creek. ( Craig Comfort still farms the original homestead and maintains grant status on it. Awardee was Colonel Robert Comfort) My Mom's side was Pennsylvania Dutch and wound up in Upper Canada at around the same time and for the same reason. Packhams first came to North America in late 1600's/early 1700's.

Btw if you got here last week.....Welcome!

Lol my full name is James Edward Packham. You know it HAD to be british descent. Been a James or an Edward going back almost 400 years according to Grandma's family history book.(which I do not have handy so I can't be exact on dates. Name originates from the trade we were in during 1500s when it became more common for people to have last names. )
