An RCMP officer in Kelowna, B.C., will be disciplined for using a Taser stun gun on a 68-year-old stroke victim over a parking violation.

Well it was a while since we had a taser topic posted.

I think the police have become their own worst enemy in the court of public opinion. This has been one of the chief complaints about the use of Tasers in that because they are perceived as "harmless" they get used far to often.

Its hard to dispute that in light of recent events.

A new policy restricting Tazer use is now being implemented. Hopefully it solves the issue.

The officer should have used his baton or just old-fashioned pistol-whipped the guy.

The senior admitted he first drove away when a police officer tried to give him a ticket for double parking.

Peters told CBC News he then stopped a short distance away. The officer stunned him with the Taser once while he was still in his car, and again when he got out, Peters said.

There is now appearing an alarming incidence of tazers being used like cattle prods.

However, the second use of the Taser on Peters, after he got out of the vehicle, was justified because Peters was combative and resisting arrest, McKinnon said.

Yeah I can understand the ol boy getting pissy at that point. I wudda ripped his head off and shit down the hole.
