For the record, I think the majority of postal workers are probably honest and hard working! but there's a big element that obviously are not! (that incident in Ontaria comes to mind)

And - not to be a broken record - but they are never held accountable! Canada Post NEVER respond to enquiries when things go missing! And if they do, it's just to pass the buck! Business' shouldn't be run that way!

BluesBud BluesBud:
I have often thought that "Canada Post Service" was an oxymoron.

It seems to me they are offering less and less. The service they have added to be "more up to date" pales to the service no longer offered. For example any new homes get "delivery stations" instead of delivery to the door.

If those of you are not aware of these, they are lighted huts within five to ten blocks or your house. These are used as target for vandalism and for your local dealer to have a spot out of the weather to sell to your kids. Oh but according to CP the price of postage hardly covers getting service out to rural areas and northern communities.

That's ridiculous that they are making those delivery stations! I would be fuming if I had to use one of those.
The postage rates keep going up and its practically getting too expensive to mail stuff. My mom sends me a small box (to Australia) and it costs her nearly $100!!! I have a friend who keeps complaining about the postages costs that are now way more than the presents are worth - and she's generous with her presents!

They're just highway robbers!

4. As a test my girlfriend and I walked into our CP outlet and picked up a parcel we knew was there, providing our name only. No slip, no ID. Handed it right over to us.

This is over the span of the last 3 weeks.

whoah! have you reported it? isn't that a serious problem? I could just walk to the counter and give a name, if that person has a parcel I can get them..? scary..

Why? In many areas you have to go to the post office to get your mail. Door to door service isn't a "right", it's just a convenience.

I don't know where you live, but EVERYONE I know personally has door to door service! and its just the post office cheaping out by using those mail stations! but if you like being walked on - go ahead!

I mail packages all the time, and I've yet to spend more on postage than on the gift.

You obviously have not had to send packages overseas!!!! I cannot believe the price of the postage for gifts that get sent to me! maybe talk about something you know, instead of something you don't!

Bullshit. The one and only time one of my packages went missing, I got a refund as soon as I made the complaint.

My mom sent me something from Vancouver that went missing - when she contacted Canada Post (to whom she had paid postage) they said it wasn't their problem! again just because you haven't experienced it personally doesn't mean it didn't happen!!!

JellyBean JellyBean:
I'm not sure I should say the name (don't want to be sued by anyone) - but its a VERY well known diamond company with stores all across Canada. You go in and pick the settings and diamonds separately (hint hint).

Yeah, that's what I thought.

Given everything you've said about Canada Post, the fact you won't name the jewelry company for some lame excuse just tells me you have an agenda.

My "agenda" is to get Canada post to lift their game! do you work for the post office because you seem very DEFENSIVE! I think you have the "agenda". What I have said is 100% honest truth and I know many others who have also had problems.

Canada Post Sucks.... I have multiple cases where important mail and packages went missing. Even if you insure it... you still have to prove that it went missing.

That's easy enough to do - when you send a package and they ask if you want a signature upon delivery.... say yes.

Even if you don't, every time I've sent a package, I'm given a tracking number so I can check its progress online or via the phone.

Been there done that... and even got a Venture Card to ease things up.

The traking number is usefull -> but if they claim that it was delivered, then you are back to square one with less money in your wallet.

I'm not saying people don't have issues with Canada Post - any company of that size is going to have the occasional problem. I just think that JellyBean has an agenda, that's all.

I agree

I just personnaly had my share of bad experiences. Most of them are from the super mailboxes. My street address has the same number as someone else on a different street. For example -> 2426 Katelyn drive vs 2426 Kingston drive. They lost many packages that way and I received mail and packages that don't belong to me. The post person is not paying attention.

The main problem is with international shipments and the thieves at Customs (in ANY country) who arbitrarily steal whatever they want when they "inspect" packages.

Anymore, I just spend the extra money to send any international shipment via UPS or FedEX because I know it will get there. Sending anything via the mail - anybody's mail - is a pure gamble.

well, my personal experience is that compared to the US Postal Service, Canada Post Sucks. International mailing is a real drag, no matter where you are though.
