Newfoundland and Labrador Premier Danny Williams is getting lukewarm support from members of Parliament for his threats to campaign against Stephen Harper if the prime minister doesn't keep his word on equalization.

Williams vowed in October that Conservatives would be shut out in the province in the next federal election if Harper reneged on a written campaign promise to keep non-renewable energy resources out of the equalization formula.

Looks like all of those grandiose promisses that Harper made are starting to bite him in the ass.

There's another twelve seats in Saskatchewan to go along with those seven if he doesn't keep his promise to Saskatchewan also! [bonk]

Harper was loud and vocal about removing "non-renewable energy resources" from the equalization formula while in Opposition. Sooooooooo, let's see him keep that promise. This is a big deal to people from a Province like Saskatchewan where population is small and tax revenues even smaller. I for one am not at all happy with his record on this file. Harper was the one who constantly took the Liberals to task for not keeping their promises. This is one promise he cannot ignore. Especially since he has already fudged on the long-gun registry promise!

Yes but not many people outside of there do which makes up the other 301 seats of the House of Commons. I wouldn't even call Newfoundland Canadians I have always called them Newfoundlanders.

And the Liberals were any better? Shit, I remember Chretien telling us the Navy was going to get new shipborne choppers and guess what, it took until just before the last elecetion for those choppers to finally get ordered...and may I say they bought the cheapest ones they could find....Just what I want my daughters to be flying in, choppers that were nothing more than CAD files....Sort of like those A400 Liberal friendly Airbus is trying to flog us now....Only a fucking loser would order a car without test driving it and reading the performance reviews....Which the C-17s have already. If Chretien...I mean Dion, should cancel the C-17, shit will fly...and I don't mean the jets. They haven't even had templates made for those yet.....Another 15 years for delivery if the Loser Liberals get back in. Our troops would die waiting for that ride!

Premier Danny Williams is a bit of a loud mouth. I lost all respect for him when he pulled that lame flag stunt.

The Jean Chretien/Paul Martin Liberals were NOT any better. In fact, IMO they were far far worse. But, I will would like this Prime Minister to keep his promises!

Wouldn't not counting 'non-renewable energy resources' be a major boost to Alberta in terms of lowing equalization payments?
