I met the former Cheif Test Pilot for Boeing's F-18 Superhornet program (actually, he might still be the Cheif test pilot, met him back in '03). He's a Canadian, was an air cadet. He attributed part of the reason he got the job to his Glider training.

I saw a program where a commercial airliner had loss power to its engines. The pilot had to glide it down to the runway, and afterwards the pilot commented on his glider training with cadets.

I think that was the movie 'Falling From the Sky'

I thought I saw this on the dicovery channel, one of their mayday's or something. Of course I could be wrong. Falling from the Sky - hollywood movie?

Yea there was probably something on the discovery channel as well, if it's the one I'm thinking of (flight to Winnipeg that run out of fuel). Falling From the Sky was a hollywood movie, but it was done really well.

HEY I heard that comment about scouts!

Although I don't agreed with the direction Scouts has been going in lately(If I wasn't too old I would switch to air cadets prolly) there are a lot of good things about it, and most of the good leaders find their way around the insane politically correct regulations...

and the boy scouts in the us do some PRETTY interesting stuff but unfourtunately we got those damn lefty hippie folk up here...

Nobody said scouts wasn't a good program. The Cadet movement is just far superior.

The British and American Scouts are also really good... damn Scouts Canada has some crazy dupper in charge I bet...

I was 15 when I joined cadets. Probably one of the better decisions I made in my youth. Chances are, your CO would get you up to the level suited for your age.

Army is the best, but im biased. Each has their own plus points. If you like adventure stuff, playing in the bush, the army is the best.

Biggest mistake I made was being to shy of screwing up around army figures. That kept me from joining for a couple of years. I built up the courage and hen I went, I realized I was stupid to be shy. They are so kind and understand when you join. After a while, they expect you to know what youre doing, but at the start, theyre very forgiving.

Now I just need to maintain this mentality before i join the reserves.

Boy Scouts."senior sixer"....Rovers only thing I hated was the"Kangaroo Court" held on some of the field trips.
Had one guy tried and convicted..then tied up and left naked in a girl guides camp.
The canoe excerise for navy seals..in the middle of a lake during a severe thunderstorm.no time for praying, just paddle like hell.
Get thru a swamp full of leaches,crayfish..etc... then portage for 5 miles.
After all that mush for dinner

Its already been said Arctic, the medal will be added as soon as someone creates the medal and description and sends it to Trevor. If you are so excited to see it, then make it in photoshop and submit it.

I'm going to put this one out there again. I know it doesn't show all the branches but c'mon. Look at our Soldier \ Veteran medals. The Veteran medal uses insignia from the RCAF. I was never in the Air Force. The Soldier medal doesn't portray the Navy or Air Force, but serving members still get it. It's hard to clearly represent all branches.
