I've heard yellow cards mentioned on another site, for those doing basic in St. Jean. Did an NCO hand them out for screw ups or what? we were given push ups, fire picket, extra duties and fines...if that didn't work, you were recoursed or booted.

Yellow and Red cards were late 90s - essentially you held one up if the bad PO was yelling at you. It pre-dated the Hurt Feelings Report.

8O Are you fucking serious....

Yeah. Didn't last all that long. Heard a couple of ODs bragging about it when they joined ship. Explained they didn't have them in the Navy then told them to scrub the shitters.

Cornflakes have badly-formed berets, can't get the rank structure right, cant react to a jack-up right...talk back when they shouldnt, etc...they can't do anything right.

That's why I think the video is legit and the PO is allowing another instructor to video it....totally off-side.

I could just not see anybody yellow carding one of our NCOs during Basic. That's just teaching recruits to do stupid shit. I wonder what genius came up with that idea?

The video is legit. Its from a series called Basic up. This is a really platoon that had a CF camera crew follow them around back in '06 I think. The entire series is up on the CF website and youtube. My course Warrant (actually a PO1) when I went through BMOQ. was the course warrant for this platoon.

In my experience things differ quite a bit between staff and platoons. Some were more laid back and let some of the little things slide every now and then and some where not. There isn't as much yelling or swearing at candidates as I imagine there was in the old days but the staff can still deliver some very effective jackings. That being said I noticed when I was going through the Mega in '09 plenty of recruits and OCdts got away with more than they probably should have.

I can't comment on the Navy or Air Force but for the Army things definitely get turned up a couple of notches on the next phase of training (BMQ-L or BMOQ-L). If that had happened on my BMOQ-L theres a good chance she would be on final warning or infront of a review borad for talking back to staff like that.

I was in the British Army from 1951 to 1953. As everyone of my generation was. I had two brothers who were in WWII. Both at El Alamein.

Honestly everyone in this video strikes me as a candyass. The recruit has no business being in the peace corps, let alone the armed forces. The instructor is almost laughable. I had more hardcore supervisors at permanent duty stations than this guy. I remmeber being terrified of my drill instructor. You did not want to draw any undue attention to yourself. The less contact with him the bettor. Hell if I ran into that guy today [28 years later],I would probally be standing at attention while he spoke.

Quote for truth. R=UP

Did someone, somewhere along the line, forget that militaries are for breaking things and killing people? WTF is all this crap about being sensitive?

This was recent:

$1:
Dana Perrino ( Fox News) describing an interview she recently had with a Navy SEAL. After discussing all the countries he had been sent to, she asked if they had to learn several languages?

His reply:

"Oh no ma'am, we don't go there to talk."

Good thing that kid isn't in the CF or someone would report him for being so horribly insensitive! Oh, my!

This makes you about eighty years old or so. Yet you write in the idiomatic language of someone who's about sixteen to maybe thirty.
