He's a tragic story. Can't take away what he did, Good or Bad, but unfortunately the Bad outweighs the Good.

Yeah, you're right, but it is too bad.

I dont know if the bad outweighs the good...I have friends and family who are still alive because of what he did.

He'd have to fuck up pretty bad to ever fall from grace...he still gets a pass in my books for now.

That was back when 13 mill was alot of money. Sad story. But thanks Steve and Terry ...

Shame to see it happen to him , he never went past it the run . had trouble holding jobs and went down the wrong path to solve it . Makes you wonder if the run was the catalyst for his problems . I truly think it let him down , and the lack of attention got to him .

:(
It shouldn't be able to be taken back. (is that english? I hope you get what I mean)

When he received it, he got it for what he has done. He STILL has done that. That didnt change. That he couldn't keep up with life doesn't mean he didn't run 7900 kms or that he didn't raise $13 million.

Too bad life has taken the best of him, but punishing him by taking it back... I don't think that is a good thing. No one is a hero forever, we all do stupid things.

It is the image you put out that is what they are trying to control and they do have that right . Other wise any one could have it bestowed to them .

It's about time. He's incapable of accepting responsibility for the things he's done ("it's always someone else's fault") and unfortunately he's become a huge embarrassment. Between the multiple drug, alcohol and assault charges I don’t think there was any other option.

My guess is this would be removed from the history books if some people had their way. Sad.

Revoking the man's recognition is absurd because rewriting history is exactly what such an act attempts to do.

What's next? Revoking a veteran's Victoria Cross for his traffic tickets?

I agree. I mean maybe I could understand if he turned into some notorious killer like Bernardo or something but not for this.

So what would the cutoff point be? Obviously serial killers then, but what about just one little murder? If i promise not to do it again? I mean Fonyo has had a bunch of chances. One little murder with no other convictions should be OK.
