If Obama was telling a crowd of lefties how nice a guy GW Bush is would you say the same thing?

Bush = good fellow?

Any true conservative would boo Bush, so that's kind of an unfair question. :P

That's a given. McCain tweaked the conservatives by cheerleading for Obama during the campaign and he lost the conservative base by doing so. McCain needs to wrap it up at this point and go find a rocking chair on a porch somewhere as his day in the sun is gone and done.

In fairness to Obama, the crowd wasn't booing Obama, they were booing McCain for being a toadie.

Agree with that! McCain has proven himself a far bigger and better man than US politics or the media can accept.

McCain is honest even in his misguided right wing thinking. He tells it like it is..
as for Bush, he was the biggest asshole the US ever elected. He will go down in history as the worst President ever!

McCain is a very good man, and ould have made a damn fine president if elected. I think the states got lucky when they had two spectacular candidates to choose from.

McCain is a nice guy but... he did choose Palin.

Ron Paul. That would have been interesting.

That's the kind of thing that never seems to happen in Quebec...

McCain might have eventually become an OK president but choosing a dangerous lightweight religious crank like Palin as a potential successor illustrated that there was something deeply wrong going on with his campaign team. America would have been better served with the McCain of 2000 but not so much with the faltering McCain of 2008.

McCain is a meglomaniac. He likely would have selected a lightweight like Palin on purpose. It's a time-tested strategy to have a boob for a VP, like when Roosevelt chose Truman and kept him in the dark on policy, even in time of war, sending him on meaningless make-work assignments.

McCain's time has clearly passed. Americans learned with Reagan what happens when you put a senior, senior citizen into the White House. I'm sure Ronny's dementia was a nice break in the day for him, but I doubt it did the country much good. Was Bush I really a two-term president or was Nancy the first female president?

The one consistancy that McCain had throughout the entire process was being respectful. There were many debates where Obama totally ran over McCain and wouldn't let him finish. Most of the time McCain would sit respectfully and let Obama finish.

Maybe that is why McCain lost. There are too few courtious, patient, respectful voters left in the US. They wanted a president that was a reflection of themselves: brash, arrogant and always shooting their mouth off before thinking.

What I truely find ironic is that Obama's approval ratings are already lower than Bush's at the same point in his first term.

But less than a month later a whole bunch changed for Bush, didn't it?

Yeah, Bush's approval went through the roof. Too bad he screwed things up to use the situation to take vengence on Sadam for making his daddy look bad. Had he focused on Osama instead of dragging us into the Iraq quagmire, things might be much different today. (Not wishing Sadam back, just think the circumstances were crap.)
