Reverend Blair Reverend Blair: Anyway, back to PM Steve. I think it was Quaaludes, but my friend thinks it was likely just valium and Jack Daniels, since he kept his pants on. The thing is that we have no way of knowing if he kept his pants on, since his lower half was hidden by the table.
And why did the table look like a giant toilet seat? Is there ever a thread that you actually debate in without acting like a child?

Reverend Blair Reverend Blair: And why did the table look like a giant toilet seat? It was hard not to miss it. I think every viewer in Canada noticed that thing and was saying "what the f*$% is that thing?" I think you're on your own on the pantles thing though

$1: Unfortunately, it is very likely that a cap and trade system will be full of corruption, especially if it is a global thing. What is to stop country X from selling fake carbon credits? How do you know the money raised isn't being diverted away rather than invested in green technology?
It will take a huge bureaucracy to operate it, and the gun resistry is a tiny reminder of what can happen there.
If everyone in the world actually cared, and could be trusted with all the money such a system would produce, then it could work, but humans being what they are, our money could just as easily finance the next poppy crop in afganistan, or buy weapons for terrorists, or line the pockets of bureaucrats... Well, you'd better vote Liberal then, because Steve's plan is for cap and trade too. $1: Crap, I just got in a little while ago. Will they rerun it with subtitles? Try NewsWorld and CPAC. $1: The funny thing is that I am not even a partisan and usually do not even comment on political matters You've been hanging out with a bad crowd though, Pimpbrewski.

Because they were expecting a lot of bullshit to fly. Usually when this group get together, you need a shovel to clean it up afterwards. There was a lot of differances in opinion this time, but I must say, they kept the bullshit to a minimum. Kudos to all of them. I think I'll have to watch it all again before I decide on a clear winner. There was a lot of noise here tonight, so I missed some of the discussion.

Back to my seemingly unwanted opinion on the debate.
Ducepe - Did a great Job and although I may not agree with his more fundamental visions for Quebec, he did his supporters proud.
Dion - Was good and agressive and certainly gained ground vs Harper
Layton - He is always the same and handled himself well, he was direct and plugging away without flinching.
Harper - Was subdued, avoiding at times and certainly avoiding eye to eye contact. He also made a lot of funny faces, he was called on his distortion and lies many times and handled it like a con artist.
May - She was fiesty at times and I agree with others lacked on any substance beyond the environment.
Overall - Everybody won except Harper and the only reason for this is it was a gang effort. I must stress with good reason!
-Regards

I fully oppose the idea of feeding children Quaaludes, or even valium and jack Daniels. Jesus, do you think I'm Steve Harper or what? $1: It was hard not to miss it. I think every viewer in Canada noticed that thing and was saying "what the f*$% is that thing?" I was wondering if they were trying to tell us something.

Canadaka Canadaka: on CTV the guy from LaPress said that a focus group in Quebec watching the debate ranked Dion as doing the best.
I think Harper was passive, but it was the right strategy for him.
I don't really think the addition of May was a positive thing, too many cooks in the kitchen. And Trev, I like La Presse. It is mostly Federalist in comparison to Journal de Montreal / Quebec especially in the province of Quebec. But as in Radio Canada, they tend to have more of a Liberal view. Don't get me wrong, as previously stated, I am not partisan. Although through the recent elections, I have been more of a Conservative. Still, the way I look at it, is that I would much prefer for a Federalist party, such as the CPC right now, getting rid of the Bloc altogether. It has been costing taxpayers' money for the 16 or so years they have been there. It has been useless for Quebecers except for the fact that the propaganda QC media has kept them there. That is why I have been mentioning in an earlier post there is such importance on the journalistic consensus through the QC media, that they must be fair on tonight's debate.
