Marital disputes? Not exactly a step forward for women's rights.

$1:
Muslims in Britain should be able to live under Sharia, says top judge

Lord Phillips of Worth Matravers, the Lord Chief Justice, strongly backed Rowan Williams, the Archbishop of Canterbury, over his suggestion earlier this year that aspects of Sharia law should be adopted in Britain.

The archbishop's remarks sparked a national debate and led to calls for his resignation.

Risking inflaming that controversy again, Lord Phillips has said that Muslims in Britain should be able to use Sharia to decide financial and marital disputes.

SHARIA

Lord Phillips said: "It is possible in this country for those who are entering into a contractual agreement to agree that the agreement shall be governed by law other than English law."

That is WAY over the line. And I don't care that in this case it was Islam. You cannot force anyone to pray to any god they don't worship. It is hypocrite and highly unethical for a teacher to do so.

I think the teacher should be suspended, not the kids.

Two schoolboys were given detention after refusing to kneel down and 'pray to Allah' during a religious education lesson.

What the hell are they doing teaching religion in a public school? You learn religion from your parents, not your teachers.

Wow... Just wow. Why can't people just keep religion to theres homes and private life and stop trying to get it to interfere with country laws, and forcing it down everybodys throats. I don't understand whats so difficult with that, when you immigrate to a country. You are basicly accepting a terms of agreement where you are to integrate with the current countries laws and system and if you don't like it find a country that does have that law and system (Like your old country).

This is what I hate about religion the most, doesn't matter what you believe in. It's all about religion, and everybody just trying to shove theres down everybody elses throats. That school thing is horrible.

Britain already has similar things for other Religions. It seems appropriate that they allow Muslims the same.

Of course.
But they shouldn't have had it at all. Don't mix law and religion. Nothing good will come out of it...

Which basicly is because Christianity and Jewism (and most other religions you can think of) are not 500 years behind modern society, or practiced en masse...

Neither is Islam.
