Sounds like an Airsoft gun. Minus shotting someone in the face or something, they are completely safe.

Shotting someone in the calf with a toy gun is "dangerous purpose"? So what are they designed for? They are a less messy, also safe, alternative to paintball

How dare kids be kids with a toy that would have had to be purchased for him by an adult, most likely parent. These things can't be sold to anyone under 18. Albeit, the kid shouldn't have had it at school, but to have it turn into a major news story is rediculous

If this stuff was in place when I went to elementry school my friends and I would have been in a lot of trouble. Air guns? What are they going to do next, ban rubber bands & tape? The two can be made to construct a projectile & launcher! Hide the scotch tape! The kiddies might get the wrong idea! Better yet, let's wrap everybody in foam and fill them full of tranquilizers. That way nobody is going to get hurt and it doesn't look dangerous. When did adults stop acting like adults and start acting like panicky, overweight 6 year olds? Give the kid's parents the talking to and the kid a really imaginative punishment for being careless with something that's close enough to look like a firearm. Better yet, bring firearms training into the schools and confront the problem head on instead of legislating around it; know how they work and what the dangers are. Remove the fear element and deal with what's there.

The RCMP are for the drug addict with the semi automatic who is going to take as many with him before he does himself in. If you can't tell the difference go on a ride along with the RC's and see some REAL crazy people. It's all about perspective and maturity; stop crapping your pants at what doesn't really matter.
