"all ages" stabbing

This incident happened last Saturday in Toronto. A week later, two suspects have been arrested. Yet there are still so many many unanswered issues.

Why is a 12 year old girl at an all ages club?
Does all ages really include 12 year olds?
Why was she alone at this club?
Why was she still there at 2 in the morning?

The entertainment district in Toronto at 2am is a dangerous place. Often enough i am there to witness the drunken behaviour at that hour and although i must admit that it can fun at times, i would never be there alone. This is a very sad story...and not just about the stabbing but about the lack of parenting of our youth.

She probably told her parents she was going to sleep-over at a friends place....

Real bars have turned into all age events...at most normal licensed bars there are tonnes of kids with fake IDs.....

So with sixteen year olds and older going to real bars, doesn't suprise me that a 12 year old went to an all age event......

Its wrong, but it doesn't suprise me.....

These teenage/underage clubs are just dumb... why the hell do kids who are just learning algebra in school need a night life?

Parents these days...

However, "stabbed in the face" I think was a little over dramatic, considering she only got five stitches...

What makes you guys think her parents knew she was out that late?

Like I said, she probably said she was going to a friends place, and went downtown instead.....

Why is your hypothetical scenario with her "going to a friend's place" that much more likely?

You can say "probably" as much as you want, but you're still making shit up. The parents should know where their 12 year old kid is, period.

People should have to obtain a license to have kids and go through a training course on how not to be dumbasses.

Why? Because anyone with kids doesn't want to believe their 12 year old is going to lie to them about something like that.

When I was 2 weeks shy of 13, I concocted that very same story. Said I was staying at a friends house. My friend told the same story and we ended up at an all-night house party with much older people there. I had just started hanging with an older crowd and had never lied to my parents (not like that anyways) before that night. My parents never saw it coming.

The fact I grew up in a rural town of 6500 people is probably what saved my bacon and also how my parents learned what I was really up to. But after they found out, things were never the same in my house again. It took me many years to earn their trust back again.

Not all circumstances are black and white, especially when it comes to kids and the lengths they'll go to, to get their own way sometimes.

Kitty:

I find it hard to take your outrage at the behaviour of young girls seriously when the photo we all see beside your name is a half-naked woman. The attitude of young girls about being a "party-girl" and promiscuous is encouraged and perpetuated by other girls or women who are willing to be sexualized or to degrade women in general. We all have a social responsibility towards our youth to teach them how to behave and respect themselves. Parents need to step up and watch their children and take responsibility for them, but society and especially women need to stand up and be role models our children can be proud of.

Yes Kitty put up the avatar of a nun.

You Josephine should get to know Kitty a bit better before becoming judgmental of her just through an avatar. I've found Kitty to be a very caring person who does not jump to conclusions about others with out some bases for the judgment and no an avatar pic is not a bases for judgment. This young girl will live with the pain of this night for the rest of her life and Kitty's heart, as many others, go out to her. You on the other hand with your post only throw ridicule and self righteousness towards kitty while showing not an ounce of compaction compared to what kitty has shown in her post.

As for society rearing my kids, stuff it, my wife and I will raise our kids look to your own first woman and don't stick your nose into my life unless we are breaking the laws of the land, because if you feel you have the right to tell me and my children what to do I shall reciprocate in a way that will make you wish you had never even thought of interfering with others. Your "social responsibility" wording smacks of what Socialism and Communism spewed out and still vomit all over the world to this day. Big Brother knows best eh?

Lilly:

To a point yes I agree but to tell someone what he or she can and can not buy or attempt to tell them how to raise their child is wrong. That is what Josephine advocates in her post. She also ridicules Kitty with out knowing her even through routine readings of her post.(please note Josephine's total number of posts, 2) She makes a snap judgment and pontificates towards Kitty.

Necro or not.....

My how RIGHTEOUS of you.... and with a whole 2 posts under your belt too.

You hit the nail on the head and then left it hanging.... IF the parents are doing their jobs then young girls WOULDNT BE "encouraged" by the "other women who are willing to be sexualized or to degrade women in general". I realize its hard to watch them 24/7 and its all around them but steps can be taken.

The fact that you had to point out the "photo" to "make your point" is NOTHING... I repeat NOTHING compared to parents allowing a 12 year old out at that time of night. IF she was supposed to be at a friends house this SHOULD have been confirmed.

I guess as a "non-parent" some may say I dont have a right but I'm SICK and TIRED of parents blaming "society".....
