I just visited my favorite American political blog to see what they're saying as they get ready for the game. They have an open thread for the game.
Want some samples?
$1:
* The US has to score first. Get the crowd out of the game and put the Canadians on their heels. If they can get the Canadians to press they just might pull this off.
Look for Chris Drury to have a big game.
* The fate of Health Care Reform hangs on this game…(He's referring to Obama's speech yesterday where he linked America's Olympic success to his pursuit of a healthcare bill.)
* Obama’s Teleprompter has scheduled a 6 pm press conference to apologize to Canada after the USA wins the gold.
* Canadians are getting insufferable with all their golds. GO USA!!!!!
* Death to Canada!
* Think of it this way: It’s the team from Harper’s conservative government vs. the team from Obama’s socialist banana republic.
* Someone will be sleeping on the couch tonight. My wife is Canadian and a sore loser.
* Goal tending will probably be the difference. Canada will likely get more scoring chances, but Miller can win it if Luongo lets in a few.
* It’s MILLER TIME ! ! !
* You guys are going to have to pardon my ignorance (I know, you always do) during this game. As a resident of the southern United States I am not a big hockey fan and know next to nothing about the sport.
So, when is the kickoff?
