After a wonderful Opening Ceremonies in Sochi yesterday, the 2014 Paralympic Games got underway today. Nice to see the events are being well-attended and kudos to CBC for carrying them for viewers at home.

Our Team Canada curlers beat both GB and Russia today and sit atop the board at 2 - 0. We also won 2 Silver and a Bronze. Silver and Bronze in downhill events and a Silver in Men's biathlon.

GO CANADA, GO!

Hit and miss on CBC and Sportsnet, don't even bother with TSN.....not nearly as much interest as in the other games...

I caught some of the hockey today, pretty cool how they scoot around.

And bodychecking 8O 8O

Looks like fun, but the upper body on these guys must be something else.

Catch a game on repeat if you can.

Olympics still on while Crimea burns. That would be like going to the Berlin Olympics while Germany was already in the Sudetenland, no? We sure like to have things both ways in the West: oh, let's kick some Putin ass for his imperialist designs, but let's not pull our athletes, 'cause that would be undue hardship on them. Let's keep doing business with Putin's oligarch friends and keep buying his oil and gas too. But yeah, kick his ass.

Love watching these guys play - how they can make the shots they do is beyond me. Watching Canada vs Norway right now and we are ahead 3 - zip in the 3rd.

GO, CANADA, GO

I watched the highlights of the Super G for the visually impaired.... 8O

OMG, some of these guys have only 3-5% vision and they're ripping down the same run and the non-handicapped racers did a few weeks ago with a guide telling them what and when to do it. Those are some gutsy athletes who have amazing spirit.

If you want inspiration, just watch the Paralypics Games. Not only are they incredible athletes, but they embody the very best of the human condition.
