The Prepper Movement: Why Are Millions Of Preppers Preparing Feverishly For The End Of The World As We Know It? In America (and Canada) today, there are millions of "preppers" that are working feverishly to get prepared for what they fear is going to happen. There is a very good chance that some of your neighbors or co-workers may be preppers. The Prepper MovementCanadian Prepper Network

I know people who did this after Bush won the 2004 election down here. At least they didn't have to buy food for a while.

Preparing for the end of the World......re: Canadian Prepper Network ...just what the Hell does staining a fence or buying a new TV stand and a red couch have to do with preparing for......THE END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!. If it's a social uprising, the end of civilization, the end of law and order then your best bet is a good supply of food and shelter and most of all get yourself a whole shitload of weapons to protect what you have, yourself and your loved ones. If it's the world ending strike by a comet or meteor or just the end of the world as foretold by the Mayan calendar the your best bet is to be prepared to bend over and kiss your ass goodbye. The best you can hope for is to be done in at the outset, as trying to survive a world ending catastrophe is going to be nothing but pain and suffering before your demise.

I posted this because I saw a special last night on TV. One guy had converted his Phoenix swimming pool into a fish pond for food. was growing scum for fish food (the scum could also be eaten by them... tastes like lettuce), had chickens for eggs and goats (pets) for milk. He was getting ready for the 2012 sun flares that will knock out the world power grid and communications. Of course, he was bringing his young kids (5 and 7, I think), to target practice.
They didn't get high points by the Prepper Mouvement because they had no evacuation plan. My question is, since Phoenix is surrounded by desert, where do you evacuate?

Some people living in some countries of Europe wished they were 'preppers' Rule of thumb: since social democracy is economically doomed by definition, if you live in a social democracy, you should 'prepare' yourself. With Obama pushing a social democratic agenda in a state already in deep debt, there's some reasons to prepare for civil riots and crumbling of society like in Europe.

By definition, as Proc likes to say, in the USA and in Canada, it's welfare state capitalism.

Preppers are the same people who wigged out over the Y2K scare.

This is what happens to a bunch of C-minus students in high school after they decided to combine reading Nostradamus with their 10-times-a-day pot smoking habit. Any of this end-of-the-world crap is just fuel for the already insane, the religious cranks, and the borderline braindead. Right now I blame the "History" channel for a lot of this bullshit. On any given night, if it's not going on about ice road truckers, crazy loggers, or crooked pawn shop jerkoffs, it's showing something stupid about the DaVinci code, ancient aliens, or Mayan 2012. If there's a channel out there that deserves to have it's license revoked by the CRTC it definitely the wildly-mislabelled History. It's the Newt Gingrich of television channels in that, just like our beloved Newton, it's managed to convince a lot of deeply stupid people that it's somehow smart.

Social democratic states failed, fail and will continue to fail. But, maybe with technological advances, they will be able to create money from other dimensions ! Unfortunately, the social democratic model is not very prone to technological advancement. So, yes, they are doomed

We have the Mayan thing going on and this nonsense about solar flares why folks want to waste time and energy on this end of the world BS escapes me. The History channel does show some good stuff from time to time but I agree that these cheap "filler" shows makes the history channel to be something less than serious.
