That may or may not satisfy Orchard. It's not going to do much for the rest of us. I think I'm pretty much a Western/Libertarian "c"onservative. I've already experienced theocratic conservatism. I'm not interested. I may be a slut but I won't sleep with SoCons ever again.
As this coalition falls apart in the States, Canadian cons may rethink their bed partners. I've been pleased with Harper on this score so far. He seems to have avoided, to a degree, coming under the power of the Bible thumpers.
I actually don't advocate screwing over the fundies; I were one a long time ago. I actually have a relatively clear memory of volunteering at our local Republican headquarters when Reagan dissapointed the SoCons of the day. I remember the sweet old lady that supervised me completely lost it and broke down in tears. I don't really want to do this to anyone.... build up their expectations then dash them. SoCons should go to the CHP where they can honestly, consistently, work on the theocratic issues that concern them the most. Hopefully, this will make them happy knowing they're honestly working for their heartfealt causes without presenting society with the dangers of actually being run by theocratic fruit loops.
