Tman1 Tman1: Again, keep this thread within the context of what it is, a celebration of ones convition and membership, not these petty insults of a few twits who need to make themselves feel good.
Sure lets celebrate but maybe ask him if somewhere down the road he doesn't want to celebrate with his own reasoning and discussion to share his values. I'm sure he would't have told us if he didn't want to voice his membership ...its all good , and I'm sure he even got a good chuckle out of what GFPB wrote
I'm not sure just stating joining a political party is as blunt empty and remarkless as everyone may think . If so I'll go to the Card shop and mail him a Best wishes Celebration Hallmark Card next time ."Just For You TMAN "

First of all, Congrats on having the CANADIAN DECENCY on becoming involved in politics. When you look at the % of Canadians who actually show up to vote, you realize that more OPEN discussion like this should lead to more political involvement, which should lead to more people exercising their democratic rights.
SECONDLY, [and the big one], if you throw it out there that you joined this or joined that, it is almost a given that you WANT to discuss it and the reasons behind your decision. By going through this process, you will finally realize that
; 1) We are all proud of you that you find this country important enough to join a party with the intent on making it even better, 2) Most canadians will sit back and talk ad naseum about SOMEONE ELSES choices while making none of their own, 3) YOU PICKED THE WRONG PARTY; unless you are looking to the future and hope that your new connections will turn a huge profit for you. Kind of like the ad thing in Quebec, the Indian thing, the marijuana thing, the gun control thing,,,, YOU KNOW,, all the things where they just put money in their pockets and said that they would fix the world.
Anyhow, I hope that you will expand a little on your announcement and give ,, say,, 3 solid reasons why you took this step.

As soon as it was made clear about the rules of this forum I acknowledged my mistake and ceased. You took an innocent remark and went off the deep end. When I explained that it was mean't in jest you continue to froth at the fingers. (and you claim to not be a liberal, yeesh).

Canadaka Canadaka: I really could care less what you have to say, that is not what this topic or forum is for. You are more than welcome to create a seperate topic to discuss why you hate the liberals. We will have another Liberal government within a year That is why they are all having hissy fits...they see it coming.

OnTheIce OnTheIce: Canadaka Canadaka: Maggiemygosh as well as others, you can screw off. This topic is in the "Liberal Party" forums. That was a secondary reason for making this topic, to see who the real assholes are around here, and to see who isn't reading or following the rules.
But that aside, thanks for all the other on-topic comments, and don't worry nothing will change on CKA, lol I have always been a Liberal supporter but I try not to let that affect how this site is run.
Well, you do let your Liberal bias control how you run this site which is why I refuse to donate any money to you/this site. Don't post your pro-Liberal posts in open forums and then bitch when people aren't all giddy and excited about your choice. Lock the Liberal forums so that only party members can post and you hear only good things about the Liberal party. I'm anxious to see how long it takes you to scold one of your "own" when they participate in the other political sections. Somehow, I think that when that happens, your keyboard will suddenly malfunction. $1: I'm anxious to see how long it takes you to scold one of your "own" when they participate in the other political sections He set up other sections?....I never noticed

One of the early threads in this subforum discussed the thinking behind treating this section like an informal grassroots liberal "conference" that is part of a very needed chance to replace the old "rotton components" of the party and rebuild. Harper used his time in opposition to travel the country and do that. The Liberal Party must do the same. The web is going to be an important part of that.
I've now joined my riding association and I can stand up and confidently say "Grainfedprairieboy in Alberta is still REALLY pissed l about the NEP and he's probably not alone. What can we do about it?"
I suggested in that early post (as now) that to open the "conference" to input from those who differ from you on the fundamental values that (must) define your party could only be counterproductive and disruptive.
The place we will hear the sometimes admittedly valuable criticism is in the main Political forum here: our "Commons chamber" as it were.
It is there that certain opposing views are adopted and championed within party ranks.
The rules in the Partisan Forums are pretty prominent but they cannot explain the rationale.
Trev - maybe if you renamed these subforums the "Liberal Party Caucus "Conservative Party Caucus" NDP Party Caucus "Green Party Caucus" the intent might be clearer. Hell go all the way and call the main Political forum the "House of Commons"

Nah I think this thread should be called "I joined the Liberal Party " well look at that ...IT IS called that ....should he be made to feel uncomfortable about posting ? "NOT" maybe Tman has a point but one shouldn't be hindered in sharing their own reasons for their own political choices .I hope he wasn't saying Calling all liberals , "lets talk" . The LIberal party has always been quite successful because no matter how many flip flops they've done they have always been the most partisan (socialy) to catch almost anyone with some form of small token of appeal as they did with myself .

$1: We have to ease him into this slowly. If he realises what he's gone and done all at once the shock could prove terminal.
211-218 are all you need to know. Canada cannot afford another liberal government for at least a decade. we need an opportunity to rebuild.
you definitely need a lesson in sarcasm

You will never find a more welcoming site/forum than this, so you can either enjoy it or shut the hell up. Not that I can enforce anything, but to put down the mod for ALLOWING you post what you please? Buddy, give your head a shake.
Who said I had a problem with this site? I have no problem with this site, I have a problem donating money to Liberal Trevor to help support this site.
Trevor, I've seen you take a stance against people who aren't pro-Liberal as you are and when the same is done in return by a Liberal supporter on this site, you let it slide. NUMEROUS times.
Enforce the rules of the forum regarldless of political preference.

Brilliant. You should be the next liberal leader (I am a card carrying member and would vote for you). When that philosophy is applied across the board to include Quebec, Nfld, BC and socialism in general then watch this country transform itself into a nation.
All in all an excellent post.

Federally and provincially. Also a NDPer and Conservative. First it allows me to attend riding meetings, learn strategy locally and throw my support behind the contender who I believe is least likely to win against my guy.

all in all yours is an idiotic post. diversity and difference of opinion are good for a country. canada won't be better off by being universally conservative. what good does it do to STLL be really pissed about the NEP? ok, it'll make sure you never forget it and make sure you do what you can to stop it from happening again but you're so hung up on it you miss out on the things that matter today. that's the problem with hardcore conservatives, they'd like to take us back to the 19th century if they could, and they can't stand it when someone has a different idea about something. you can't seem to get past how bad the Liberals are, then you can't do anything constructive either.

Im atta loss here.... you put your support behind the guy that you think is going to lose to the guy you actually want to win?
Not to mention the fact that you are GIVING money to the other parties you DONT want to win.....it makes no sense.

Of course, unlike the liberals who would never ever ever think to visit the sins of the Fathers on the Sons. What a bunch of sanctimonious crap!
The NEP is one of the defining moments of Condfederation (particularly for this generation) and a shining example of its failings. Most importantly it is the first time the Federal Government has ever acknowledged that it tried to DELIBERATLEY harm a province economically in order to suppress it. Many of the people who were involved are still there, the laws that allowed it to happen still exist, the public in Eastern Canada overwhelmingly supports increasing their share of Alberta’s revenues and I know for a fact that if a similar law where passed tomorrow then Alberta would be a republic in a fortnight.
BTFW: Stating the obvious does not make me a separatist so spare me your surreptitious BS flag waving as a way to whitewash the concerns of Canadians.
