Ignatieff agrees to be Deputy Leader
By allowing himself to be designated as deputy leader, Ignatieff has finally defused a crisis which was building last week. It started with Dion thinking his own dreams of defeating Stephen Dion are a reality. Without any preparedness for elections, he appeared to be planning to join with the Bloc and topple the Harper government either over Afghanistan or the Budget.
The Iggy faction was quite irritated with this rubbish, and on Wednesday, before the Liberal Christmas Party, they had a pre-Liberal Christmas Party, which was attended by 75 of the caucus. Iggy heared their pleas and warned Dion about his disastrous course of action. It had the necessary effect, and Dion appears to be awake now to the reality.
a. Iggy is now deputy leader, so every Dion pronouncement and position will be settled in private.
b. Dion has publicly disassociated himself from the Bloc move to topple Harper.
c. Dion has admitted that the Canadian public is not happy with frequent polls.
d. Dion has admitted that the Liberal party is hardly prepared for elections.
In addition, Ignatieff has ensured that the people who were irresponsible enough to propel Dion now have a commitment to his success or failure. I refer, in order of their contribution, to Hall-Findlay, Kennedy and Rae.
More about that later.

$1: It started with Dion thinking his own dreams of defeating Stephen Dion are a reality.
Find the spelling error in this sentence and win a prize!!!
On another note, do you have an Iggy shrine in your home? You seem like the kind of blind sheep to do that kind of thing...

Martha to consult grass roots on policy.
Martha Hall Findlay, who drove around the country in her red bus, will hit the road again, this time, the gas will be paid for by the Liberal Party, and she will consult the grass roots about policy.
In the process, she will educate herself and her faction about what the people really want. Perhaps, like Dion, she will also realise that there is a reality out there and that becoming (in her case creating,) a leader is step one, and Harper is a formidable opponent, not scared by red buses. ![boxing [boxing]](./images/smilies/box2.gif)

Kennedy afraid to coordinate election preparedness.
Poor Gerard Kennedy. He thought he could let the fox into the hen house and watch the fun! But Iggy has him cornered. Kennedy has been told to be in charge of election preparedness, which means that if Dion is toast, then Kennedy is toast number two!
What an irony for Kennedy. If you remember, Harper skilfully did two by elections, one in Quebec and one in Ontario, and hinted that Leadership Contenders number two and three could prove their capability by taking seats in the house. Neither Rae nor Kennedy had the stomach for it!
So in a superb irony, the man who was not prepared for election as an MP is now to prepare the party for getting 103 MPs re-elected, and a further 50 or so women, (remember Dion's promise to have one third women,) to create a majority somehow!
Not surprisingly, Toronto Star today says that Kennedy does not have the stomach for it! Suddenly the leader who he felt was closest to him emotionally (intellectually, they are different, Dion is a professor, while Kennedy is a college drop out or something,) seems quite distant!
Not Kennedy's idea of a star to hitch his wagon to. Why, we may wonder, is he certain that Dion will flop? Was that why he moved to Dion? To ensure that another round would happen soon?

Rae to prepare Policy Platform
In another master move, Ignatieff has placed Rae in the toast queue as toast number three, by putting him in charge of preparing the policy platform.
Just before the third vote, when Rae was knocked out, a person with Rae badges all over his shirt was frantically distributing a spiral bound booklet. Not many were interested, and he kept trying to get people to accept it and read it, saying 'Bob Rae's Policy Documents'.
The line included a lot of bored persons like myself, and I could not resist lightening up things with a laugh, so I said to him:
"Bob Rae's Policy Documents? You mean, Rae has a Policy?"
Laughs all around from a brightened crowd. So I add in a loud aside:
"I thought Rae had a strong policy not to have a policy on anything!"
But seriously, Rae's ability to think nothing and say nothing is, for once, really useful. Given that there are so many contentious issues tearing apart Canadians, only a Rae document could be all things to everyone.
Iggy is right in doing it. He makes Rae responsible for Dion's success and failure, doubtless, but he also utilises Rae's talent in the best possible way.
For once we need Bob 'and Weave' Rae!

lily lily: I'm beginning to see why Iggy lost.
A bit late, don't you think, Lily?
If you had been quicker, you would have seen that your man Volpe was dead on arrival.

lily lily: I have a man named Volpe?
Now, now, Lily!
You can't pretend, just because he lost so badly!
We all know you were an ardent Volpe supporter.
