The recent spate of attack ads launched by the Conservatives may be a blessing in disguise for Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion as he tries to reign in his party and his caucus.

The attack on Dion will likely cause Liberals to rally around Dion's banner to defend him. Ironically, by making Dion's ability as a leader an issue the Conservatives have likely made it easier for him to lead - as his team now has an interest in proving how much they are behind him.

Jeff Jedras (A BC'er in TO) makes another phenomenal point about the ads:

The Conservatives have sent their message via the commercial - but now, the media is going to come to the Liberals for their response. This gives Liberals a chance to put out our own message.

[titanic] The liberals made their own bed now they have to LIE in it!The media has tried to portray Dion as an environment hero, why ? maybe because he has a dog named Kyoto! Canadians have short memories the Conservatives are just reminding them Dion has zero credibility on environment policy.

This part of the forum isn't for Liberal bashing, go with the flow or dont post. Goto the general Canadian politics forum if you want to talk smack.
