I'll have to defer my answer to the question till we hear from ketchup joe who'll likely add his normal skewed native only rant to this topic.

The marvel of this voting system is that you can pick two options at once. Take that, ambiguity!

I voted the all above option, except the Britain Ancestory part. That would mean Americans get to be called Canadians

Just jking, if there are any American's present on the forums.

The people who built Canada and their relatives. Pretty easy to move into a built house, but try building one.

If you're a legal citizen, you're a real Canadian.
Nope, nope, nope, Beeep! Time out! Wrong! ....The ones that signed the Treaties and its decendants. Thats it. The rest are immigrants, should be given rules and regulations. Different from the said signatories.

What's wrong with them fixing up the craphole they came from first?

If it was like Canada they woudln't have to move here. Shit most countries have 100's of years headstart on Canada.

and no i'm not playing your question game.

I think a first generation immigrant can never be a real Canadian. They will always have the culture they left, with them. I don't think a citizenship test will make you a real Canadian. It will make you a citizen, sure, but I think a real Canadian is maybe even born but at least bred in Canada, not necessarily out of Canadian parents, but definately raised.

In the end, my kids may feel like they are real Canadians, but I will never be a real one. I have too much Dutch in me, no matter how hard I try to be a Canadian or live like one.
