The first mode of transportation (other than a Big Wheel or a skateboard) that you had usually brings back fond memories of youth....

What was the first vehicle you actually drove that you paid for on your own?

Mine was a 1959 Chevrolet Apache - paid $3,500 for it.
It wasn't quite as nice as this one, but the colour is bang on.

Nice...I'm a Harley man myself. Had a 1987 Sportster 1100 with ape hangers, straight pipes and an awesome paint job.

Unfortunately it was stolen shortly after I angered some nameless individuals.........

First ever? A 1951 Dodge 1 ton that my grandfather gave me when I was twelve. It's still out at the farm but there's an addition to it...a tree growing through the engine well.

First that I actually licensed? A 1967 Comet Caliente with a high performance 289.

Now I feel old...the Ford Tempo hadn't even been thought of when I bought the Comet. I paid $400 for the Comet...nobody wanted fast, old cars in the early eighties. I sold it for the same I paid for it to some guys who showed up in a cab.

I know a guy who owned one of those, Buford. Not sure of the year though. He snapped in half one night just by hammering on the gas pedal...a bit of a rust problem just in front of the back wheels. We dragged it out in a field to see if you could, in fact, blow up a car with Drano and tinfoil. You can, but it's a boring explosion so you have to go back and try again with jerry cans full of gas and plain old matches. 8)

Never much like cars but my first vehicle was a 1979 Honda CB750. Several Dirtbikes and the like prior but that was the first bought and paid for by me. Piece of crap actually but it moved so it was great. Moved from there into trucks and from trucks to Jeeps as I have now. Just bought a 2003 TJ and had it upgraded to my liking last week. Got mud?

How much upgrading did it take, Almighty 1? I never really figured out why they (jeep) abandonded the old CJ.

6" lift, 20's for rims, Wilderness mudders, Grizzly bars-front, back, sides, re-enforced skid plate and currently finishing rubberizing interior floor.

The CJ model just faded away for some reason I guess.

I had the biggest boat on the road, I paid $300 for a Ford costom 500. It was huge, Great for the bush parties. Pack all your friends into it and a way we go.
I once had 11 people in it to go to Mcd's for lunch.

Huge. sold it to another sucker for a grand, i think for the engine a gas guzziling 400/ 6.6L
