Maybe when we die, that's what happens to our soul. Maybe our brain waves collapse and zoom off into the abyss. Maybe God dwells in that abyss.

would be a good explanation, by our laws of physics, something must occupy yhtat space, be it parallel universes, god/heaven or something else. but then we cant know that the physical laws of our universe can/must exist outside of it...
