As per usual...go to victory square for the ceremony and then up to the legion and buy for the oldtimers. My Great Uncle isnt with us anymore but some of his buds are still kicking and love to tell me stories of him.

Looks like I'm gonna be working.

I'm going to (VERY STRONGLY) suggest that they give us the option of taking our lunch early so we can attend the ceremony at the cenotaph. If they say no, I'll just do it anyway.

I imagine the local police will be called to the local cenotaph to break up an incident that occurs when a 90 year old man with a walker notices Streaker pissing on the cenotaph and punches the shit out of him

About 450,000 Canadians actually went overseas to fight in France and Belgium.

Canada bought her place at the table when the treaty was being written, thru the blood of her soldiers. This was Canada's " War of Recognition and Independence ". After the end of World war One Canada no longer had to ask Britain for permission to act as a nation. It had won that right thru it's war record.--- Jim Bunting. Toronto. with a population of only 8 million sending 450 000

Taking a short trip to lay a wreath on my Dad's grave, then take in the local ceremonies''

Last week the foreman at the plant where I have started to work, told me that they would have another house ready for me to start on Tuesday.
I told him that Remeberance Day was the ONLY day of the year that I would not work. I would be happy to start Wednesday though.

Yesterday the plant held their 'grand opening'. The company President came up to me, we introduced ourselves as this was the first time we met. He then informed me that he had decided to close the plant for business on Tuesday so that all the employees could attend Rememberance ceremonies.

He's not saying that at all. Canada went into the war with a colonial mentality in 1914(where was the US) and at the end of the war in 1918, Canada's contribution could be measured as equal to that of any of the other allies. If anyone can be accused of claiming to fight a war single handedly..........well, now's not the time to be in a pissing contest.
