I think the old buzzard made a lot of money off this. Tax free I expect(?). Then he tells the idiots he's postponed the Great Rupture for another 5 months.

I wonder why some folks fall for this? Now we have the rapture postponed until October this year, then we have the end supposedly predicted by the Mayan Calendar in 2012.

I don't some of us have enough to do with our lives but hold out for the scary endings.

Sounds like he was having a right hemisphere stroke long before he decided to declare the Rapture at hand.

$1:
Effects of a right hemisphere stroke can include:

inability to recognize familiar objects or understand their use. Telling the media about the rapture for example and then forgetting you told them and not being able to figure out why they're ROTFLTAO.

difficulty judging distances, shapes and/or directions. Where heaven is or how to get there.

impulsive behaviour, mood swings, poor judgment. Declaring a rapture without previously clearing it with the head office.

short-term memory loss. Forgetting that you declared a rapture on May 24th and then declare it's about to happen in 5 months later.

I hope he makes a full recovery and doesn't suffer any serious complications from this.... but in saying that, I still think he's a crack pot who can't admit he was either wrong or was lying.

With such serious predictions such as the world ending and being as serious as possible with your predictions..... you damn well better be right, because if you're not, it won't matter if you're 4 years old or 114..... you will get backlash and you will be mocked to an equal extent compared to how much you proclaimed what you said was true.

Call it "Cry Wolf" syndrome.

This isn't some "I predict the Bruins are going to win the Cup" ~ This is a prediction that if true, would affect every single person on this planet.... it's a claim that we're either going to die, go to heaven or go to hell.

^ Don't make such dumbass predictions unless you think it's really true & you have the evidence backing your claims up...... and to add to that, if you can't handle the possible backlash that would occur if you are wrong.... don't make the prediction & don't advertise it to such an extent as this clown did..... because you won't have anybody else to blame except yourself.

Harold Camping was wrong, but I cannot believe he was "lying", in the sense I would use would use the word.

I think he really believes this stuff. If he does believe this stuff and he really was secure in the idea of the end of the world etc.; can you imagine what he felt like when nothing happened?

If his idea is deception for money, he succeeded very well.

(Now we have to wait until October for his revised prediction)

I think he really believes it too. I also think he is a very smart business man (kinda like Donald Trump, who pretends to lease land to Khadaffi, and then never delivers but keeps the money already paid), and that last part pisses me off.
I understand people are so delusional, but when you are wrong and you made money out of it, you pay it back. That's classy. Now he is just a money grabbing asshole.

Agreed.... I lean more towards him truly believing his claims too.... but I still wouldn't be surprised if it was all just a scam like what many others have tried in the past.

Regardless, at least he got his name in the history books.

I think credit should be given where credit is due. If someone says "Hey look up in the sky, there's a big asteroid that's about to smack us and based on my supplied calculations, 90% of us are all going to die in the process." ~ or even "Hey, my calculations & studies which I just supplied show that we have 2 more years before our sun dies out." ..... some real concern should be applied.

But when people start going around preaching about the end of the world based on their religious teachings or godly fears.... they should be mocked and treated as the lunatics they are.

I don't wish any ill will on this "Preacher", but from the begining and to this day I felt this guys was a luniatic clown who had no idea what he was talking about.... and he got everything he deserved for trying to scare the crap out of everyone, especially his followers.

By the way.... here's a list of all the failed "End of Days" predictions over the centuries:

Failed Doomsday List:
http://www.abhota.info/end1.htm

There have been so many failed predictions it boggles the mind that people would still try and make these predictions...... of all of these (from 2800BC to present) have failed... what makes anybody making more predictions think they'll be right?

Yeah, I'm not sure either. I think he is presently rich as stink and I haven't heard he's giving any money back.

I think if he were to be sued for fraud it would set the stage for a lot of religions being sued for fraud. Hmmmmmm!!

We might be able to justify his actions as that of a simple charismatic religious nut and if no one had listened to him that would have been the end of it. Now we see that his followers were really stupid in this regard too. Some got rid of everything and just waited........

There is a bunch of folks out there right now just waiting for the next prediction, like they want the end of the world. Camping moved the date until sometime in Oct. so we have a bunch waiting for this still, then we have the Mayan Calender....and on and on..

Does the NDP believe in the Apocalypse? How about the Liberals?

How about Steph(******censored********)

Lets talk about Chocolate Brownies. I really like chocolate brownies. Chocolate brownies are really tasty.

Recipe
4 ounces unsweetened chocolate (bakers chocolate squares)
1/2 pound butter or margarine
2 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup flour
4 eggs
2 cups chopped pecans or walnuts

Preheat the oven to 350ºF (325ºF if using a glass baking dish).

Melt the chocolate and butter or margarine in a heavy saucepan over low heat. Remove from the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients in order, one at a time (the eggs also go in one at a time). Pour the mixture into a 9"x13" pan that has been lined with foil and greased.

Bake for 20 to 25 minutes. Do not over bake - the center should still have slightly moist crumbs when tested with a toothpick inserted into the center of the brownies.

Cool thoroughly before cutting. (It is actually even better if it refrigerated overnight before cutting).
