Scrappy Scrappy:
For heavens sake OPP you are such a freaking spineless sissy, how are the troops and police trained in Sweden? Do they wave white flags or assist criminals in their activities. Her training is necessary to protect her and those she may have to apprehend in future. Our Military is often used when their is civil disobedience, when demonstrators turn to violence (such as Halifax as these peace protesters hurled bombs at the police) would you rather we should the freaks or pepper spray them. Personally I say shoot the fucking losers, but hay I'm not studing Pacifism 101 at Uni you are OPP. You do know that firefighters train all year round, yes OPP they practice on each other in burning buildings. Gulp stop the carnage and training. Oh the inhumanity of it allllllllllllllllllllll.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
Sometimes killing the enemy is necessary to preserve innocent life.

Decent people value the lives of the innocent over the lives of the aggressors. Obviously, you are not amongst that group commonly called decent people because you place an equal value on aggressors and innocents.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
There's no need for anyone to assassinate your character when you have none to begin with.

PDT_Armataz_01_37 to all I quoted.

OPP, I knew it was only a matter of time before you would post more drivel. Once again you're anti-military nonsense, surrender to anyone bullshit runs rampant.

Jesus placed a higher value on innocents than on aggressors.

Jesus of Nazareth Jesus of Nazareth:
Matthew 5: 3-12

Blessed are the poor in spirit,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Blessed are they who mourn,
for they shall be comforted.

Blessed are the meek,
for they shall possess the earth.

Blessed are they who hunger and thirst for justice,
for they shall be satisfied.

Blessed are the merciful,
for they shall obtain mercy.

Blessed are the pure of heart,
for they shall see God.

Blessed are the peacemakers,
for they shall be called sons of God.

Blessed are they who suffer persecution for justice sake,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

According to Scriptural injunctions there are six kinds of capital aggressors: 1) a poisoner, 2) an arsonist, 3) one who attacks with deadly weapons, 4) one who plunders riches, 5) one who occupies another’s land, and 6) one who kidnaps another’s wife. No sin is incurred by killing such aggressors and Jesus never renounced these injunctions.

In the Garden of Gethsemane Jesus admonished the Disciples not to harm those who accosted him there saying:

Jesus of Nazareth Jesus of Nazareth:
Sin will overcome us if we slay such aggressors. Therefore it is not proper for you to kill the descendents of Moses and our friends. What should we gain, O Father, Husband of the Goddess of Fortune, and how could we be happy by killing our own kinsmen? O Lord of All, although these men, overtaken by greed, see no fault in killing one’s family or quarreling with friends, why should we, with knowledge of the sin, engage in these acts?

In this he extended mercy to his attackers even though killing them may well have been permissible under the third injunction of Scripture.

But this was limited to killing those who were of a kin to Jesus. Jesus never offered such a proscription against foreign aggressors.

Under this view, Jesus would have certainly found fault with the US Civil War regardless of what principles may have been at stake.

My choice came with rank. Getting a couple shiny bars changed my life quite a bit and it literally beat the snot out of a snot party.

Don't know if that term made it to the CF - but we called CS training a snot party.

Oh, then quite obviously you are now an expert in the field of military and combat psychology having viewed a documentary.

The doctor present who had to examine the burnt and dismembered bodies of chilldren said in the interview that his work did not allow him to feel becaus of the emotional distress it would caus and he admitted that the tragic event he witnessed drained him of sympathy, but he does not have a gun in his hand now does he! He is not a trained killer nor is his job to eliminate other human beings

Sometimes killing the enemy is necessary to preserve innocent life.

As in the case of Iraq I presume?

Blah, blah, blah and then you quote a guy who went to Spain to fight for the Communists:

Hemingway was just pissed because his precious Communists lost that war.

You still have no credibility on this subject. You pontificate from a position of safety that is guarded by the very type of people you criticise.

Yes. All three times Iraq was invaded by the Western Allies the mission was to preserve innocent life.

In 1941 Iraq was invaded to put an end to the Iraqi alliance with Nazi Germany.

In 1991 Iraq was invaded to end their illegal occupation of Kuwait and parts of Saudi Arabia.

In 2003 Iraq was invaded to prevent them from developing the nuclear weapons they said they were developing and to topple a hostile regime that didn't get the message from 1991 that they needed to stop threatening their neighbors.

Personally, I disagree with the idea of imposing democracy on them and would much prefer to see Iraq broken up into three countries. The Kurds deserve their independence and the Shiites in the south would be happier as part of Iran. That would leave the angry Sunnis isolated in Baghdad where they would no longer have the resources to plague their neighbors.

Allow me to let Jesus address this:

$1:
Luke 22:36-38 (New International Version - UK)

36 He said to them, But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don't have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.

37 It is written: 'And he was numbered with the transgressors'; and I tell you that this must be fulfilled in me. Yes, what is written about me is reaching its fulfilment.

38 The disciples said, See, Lord, here are two swords. That is enough, he replied.

Draw your own conclusions.

OPP OPP:
You're using Jesus to further your agenda?

No, I'm answering someone else's question.

I bet that someone/anyone who have an indepth knowledge of the bible could dig up hundreds of quotes where Jesus denounce all kinds of violence and preache forgiveness. What you have there is nothing!

Matthew 5:43-48

You have learned that they were told, “Love your neighbor, hate your enemy.” But what I tell you is this: Love your enemies and pray for your persecutors; only so can you be children of your heavenly Father, who makes his sun shine on good and bad alike, and sends the rain on the honest and the dishonest. If you love only those who love you, what reward can you expect? Surely the tax-gatherers do as much as that. And if you greet only your brothers, what is there extraordinary about that? Even the heathen do as much. There must be no limit to your goodness, as your heavenly Father’s goodness knows no bounds.

Matthew 5:38-42

You have learned that they were told, “Eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth.” But what I tell you is this: Do not set yourself against the man who wrongs you. If someone slaps you on the right cheek, turn and offer him your left. If a man wants to sue you for your shirt, let him have your coat as well. If a man in authority makes you go one mile, go with him two. Give when you are asked to give; and do not turn your back on a man who wants to borrow.

Luke 6:27-36

Love your enemies; do good to those who hate you; bless those who curse you; pray for those who treat you spitefully. When a man hits you on the cheek, offer him the other cheek too; when a man takes your coat, let him have your shirt as well. Give to everyone who asks you; when a man takes what is yours, do not demand it back. Treat others as you would like them to treat you. If you love only those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. Again, if you do good only to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do as much. And if you lend only where you expect to be repaid, what credit is that to you? Even sinners lend to each other to be repaid in full. But you must love your enemies and do good; and lend without expecting any return; and you will have a rich reward: you will be sons of the Most High, because he himself is kind to the ungrateful and wicked. Be compassionate as your Father is compassionate.
