Wow. I can't imagine why she dumped him...

It does seem a little radical when you think about it. Then again I used to be in favor of a woman's right to choose when it came to abortion but, as age and senility grow nearer I've changed my stance.
I'm in favor of the "PARENTS" right to choose as opposed to only one half of the equation making all the decisions.

You really going to force a woman to carry a child she doesn't want?

No but on that note she can't claim financial assistance for 18 years from the guy for a child he doesn't want. This has to be a two way street and as it stands now all decisions are left up to the woman with the man having basically no recourse in the process.

Maybe it could happen once a male contraception treatment is perfected.

I agree. The problem is that the child suffers if the father isn't kicking in funds. That's what the courts are focused on. I don't really see a better solution than the one we've got, even if it discriminates against men. Men just have to learn to be more selective where they stick their dicks.

There is no way in hell that I trust a man with what will happen to my body and my life. There is no way that I let my future and the future of a possible child depend on whether he takes his pill every day or not. It is MY body, I have to carry that child (or not...) so JUST relying on a man? Hell no. He turns around, walks away, never to be heard of again. Ain't happening.

Dan was looking at it from the male perspective of having to support a child you don't want, and having no say in the matter.

That's why I will never just rely on a man. As long as he can't carry it, it is a her decision, and that is it. If you really don't want kids, have your tubes tied. If you do, find a woman who also does. Like this case spells out so nicely... HE claims she had an abortion, HER party says she had a miscarriage.

Brenda Brenda: If you really don't want kids, have your tubes tied. And if you don't want to get pregnant don't spread your legs. Just wanted to show the idiocy of your arguement. It takes two to create. It takes two to support. It SHOULD take two to destroy. You have the luxury of looking at it from a position with choices. No man here will get that luxury any time soon. What I see is a shining example of why our society will collapse sooner rather than later. We parrot about equality, than base a portion of our legal system on blatant inequality. ![Eating Popcorn [popcorn]](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif)

I'm willing to do that.

It's a he said she said story here, we don't know the context of the situation. I do know that if my signifigant other had an abortion without consulting my feelings about it I'd be miffed, but as I said we don't know the context of the story, there are many whats and whys that could have contributed to her decision.
