BartSimpson BartSimpson: Tricks Tricks: BartSimpson BartSimpson: Distilled water works fine as a coolant. No corrosion and it's not a conductor if there's a leak. But can grow algae! Distilled water is pure water and has no algae in it. The problem is everything else in it isn't pure. There can be air at the top of tanks in a loop as well. Most people use a biocide in their loops for this reason, even with distilled.

There can be air at the top of tanks in a loop as well. Most people use a biocide in their loops for this reason, even with distilled. Most cooling additives contain chemicals to control algal and fungal growth. You can also get a pure silver coil that acts as a natural germicidal agent, to add to your reservoir. I change the coolant in my truck periodically, why not my computer? This is basically what I'm building: That case, but two coolant loops, one for the processor and 1 bank of RAM, the other for video and the other bank of RAM. I'm eventually going to use an Arduino and create my own display panel and fan/pump controllers, like this guy has. My mainboard has built in connections for pumps and fans, but only for one loop.

What I say to my gamer friends: 1200W power supply? There an indent for a wok on the top of your case too?

herbie herbie: What I say to my gamer friends: 1200W power supply? There an indent for a wok on the top of your case too? Just because it can do 1200 doesn't mean it uses 1200. I've got a 1200w in mine, and the entire system + two 27 inch monitors equals about 400-450 watts usage. Plus, these things are wicked efficient now.

$1: The Brewers Direct Water Distiller is a high quality, countertop distiller based on a very popular water distillation unit. The boiling vessel and cooling chamber are made of stainless steel. No cooling water is required, as the unit is fan cooled, making the distillation process virtually as simple as making coffee! For those in countries where alcohol distillation is legal, the unit can produce up to 60% product with virtually no off-tastes or smells on a single run. A second run can actually improve this to nearly 90%!
Just as with many countertop water distillers, activated carbon filtration can take place inline, on the way to the collection container, completing the entire distillation and filtration processes in a single step. I checked Manitoba law. It's perfectly legal to home distill here. MLCC doesn't like it, but a court case in 1963 made home brewing legal. The law doesn't make any distinction between brewed wine/beer vs distilled beverages. This device is available in Winnipeg stores. It takes about 8 hours to distill about a gallon of "distillers beer" into one bottle of whisky, or one gallon of wine into one bottle of brandy. It isn't quick. It's for home use.

Make your system sound more efficient AND way cooler at the same time: Rate it in HORSEPOWER 1200W = "I got a 1.6 Horsepower computer" Oh yeah? Well my Ryzen7 with twin NVidia Tesla cards is FIVE horsepower!
