Tim Hortons to expand in UAE, other Gulf countries

http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/02/ ... 1220110205

So now maybe I won't feel left out when everyone is drooling over Timmies ?

Not much of a coffee drinker though ?

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
Man, I can't wait to get to another part of the world and eat and drink the same crap I had in my home country.

Eating McDonalds, shopping at Levi's, and drinking Tim Hortons.

There's no escape, resistance is futile

I have an alternative for you: eating patties from homeless cats and dogs with soybean made in uncleaned basements by old dirty folks. Jeans made in Turkey or China (your choice) that are destroying after 4-th cleaning and beer that only God knows from what it's made. Be happy

I doubt that your jeans are made in Taiwan. Your computer or large parts of it will be from here though. We have Dunkin' Donuts and Mister Donut here.

A glazed doughnut is a glazed doughnut. I'm partial to crullers and apple fritters.

Mr. C I can understand your anti capitalist stance and resistance to mass produced "name" brands, but don't forget 2 things
1. You always have a personal choice, if you disagree with soemthing, a product or a company that produces it, you can always decline to give them your $
2. When traveling abroad, if all your worried about is the McD's in Paris or the Tim's in Dubai ect, you'll be missing out on allot, theres always local alternatives to the mega chains that are popping up all over the world, go to te locals and see what they prefer, then if you want you can rail against the Capitalist Expansionism with locals and have a right good time

I find it's more an issue of discordant scenery. When traveling abroad in Paris the last thing I wanted to see on Les Chant Élisé is a McDonalds since that takes away from the feel of such an iconic french location. I'm not trying to say that such chains shouldn't operate internationally. I just wish the locals would keep in mind that when in places like that you would expect to see more local fair. I will admit that they had the cleanest bathrooms to be found though.
