Canada is becoming just as segregated and divided as anywhere else. We're just a few years behind Europe.

It's not perfect, but it's still a great concept in which many cultures live in harmony and all contribute to our economy and technology. To bad the whole world can not be as simplified as Canada.

Of course there is always some ignorant ass that just doesn't get it.

At some point, one has to accept that the ideal is not always practical. The more we diversify - the more we become a conglomerate of international interests - the more we become a nation without a core. While this is good at turning politics into a spectacle sport and excellent for destroying national will and proclivities towards tangible progress, such a venture is only worth its salt when everyone else is doing it. New immigrants are very good at talking about the international issues. Canada, however, without a will to sovereignty, without an ingrained sense of national history and direction, is bound to be destroyed by forces within and without. Ideals aren't worth a dime if they are self-defeating, as multiculturalism is.
