https://www.taiwannews.com.tw/en/news/3871594Tencent may have accidentally leaked real data on Wuhan virus deaths [24,589]Charts at the link. $1: TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — As many experts question the veracity of China's statistics for the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, Tencent over the weekend seems to have inadvertently released what is potentially the actual number of infections and deaths, which were astronomically higher than official figures.
On late Saturday evening (Feb. 1), Tencent, on its webpage titled "Epidemic Situation Tracker", showed confirmed cases of novel coronavirus (2019nCoV) in China as standing at 154,023, 10 times the official figure at the time. It listed the number of suspected cases as 79,808, four times the official figure.
The number of cured cases was only 269, well below the official number that day of 300. Most ominously, the death toll listed was 24,589, vastly higher than the 300 officially listed that day.
Moments later, Tencent updated the numbers to reflect the government's "official" numbers that day. Netizens noticed that Tencent has on at least three occasions posted extremely high numbers, only to quickly lower them to government-approved statistics.
Netizens also noticed that each time the screen with the large numbers appears, it shows a comparison with the previous day's data which demonstrates a "reasonable" incremental increase, much like comparisons of official numbers. This has led some netizens to speculate that Tencent has two sets of data, the real data and "processed" data.
Some are speculating that a coding problem could be causing the real "internal" data to accidentally appear. Others believe that someone behind the scenes is trying to leak the real numbers.
However, the "internal" data held by Beijing may not reflect the true extent of the epidemic. According to multiple sources in Wuhan, many coronavirus patients are unable to receive treatment and die outside of hospitals.
A severe shortage of test kits also leads to a lower number of diagnosed cases of infection and death. In addition, there have been many reports of doctors being ordered to list other forms of death instead of coronavirus to keep the death toll artificially low. Almost 25,000 dead.

$1: Dubious screenshot claims Chinese website published 'real' coronavirus death toll A screenshot purportedly showing the real death toll of the coronavirus in China — putting it over 80 times higher than the official number — has gone viral. However, such screenshots, taken from the social media site QQ, are easily fakeable by anyone using a standard web browser. And, a public health official says, such high numbers at this point are likely a hoax. Rumours have been swirling online that the Chinese government is hiding the actual extent of the coronavirus outbreak, which took root there and is now spreading worldwide. QQ is an instant messenger, owned by the Chinese media company Tencent, that includes a news page. It counts around 900 million active users and has an "epidemic situation tracker" that reports real-time data of known coronavirus cases and deaths across China from over 170 sources, according to Tencent. On Sunday, a screenshot of the tracker began spreading on Chinese social media. It was said to have captured the accidental release of the "real death toll" — 24,589, far above the roughly 300 then recognized by the Chinese government. https://www.cbc.ca/news/technology/qq-t ... -1.5454818

The secrecy of the Chinese Communist Party certainly doesn't help anything, but that doesn't mean hoaxers won't take advantage of that to spread misinformation.

This epidemic is opening up China's less than stellar medical system to the world and is showing the cracks in and fallacies about how great it really is.
Maybe next time they won't try and hide the truth when something like this happens and if what I think happened is right they'll improve their containment practices at their NBC labs drastically so this doesn't happen to them again.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: Tencent may have accidentally leaked real data on Wuhan virus deaths [24,589]$1: TAIPEI (Taiwan News) — As many experts question the veracity of China's statistics for the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak, the pretarded people of the Western world believe the bullshit whole-heartedly and are going bat-shit crazy over the sniffles. The drills and psychological operations are going as planned. Soon, paranoid hypochondria will be considered normal and failing to register for your daily shots will result in permanent incarceration at hard labor in support of the failing economy and crumbling supply chains. Do not adjust your tell-a-lie-vision set. There will be not revolution.

Not another one thinking this is a Bio weapon. Not necessarily a weapon but gov'ts fuck around with this shit non stop in their quest to find vaccines and antidotes. So, it's not a stretch that it got out from some research facility and who has more reason to be searching for a vaccine for this class of virus than the Chinese. When was the last time you heard of a SARS like virus starting in Halifax, London or Houston? A question though. Why does no one find it strange that the whistle blower in Wuhan was an "ophthalmologist" and not say a, virologist or even a GP? $1: Li Wenliang died of the virus in the early hours of Friday morning local time, Wuhan Central Hospital, where he worked, said in a statement. The confirmation follows a series of conflicting statements about his condition from the hospital and Chinese state media outlets. "Our hospital's ophthalmologist Li Wenliang was unfortunately infected with coronavirus during his work in the fight against the coronavirus epidemic," the hospital said. "He died at 2:58 am on Feb 7 after attempts to resuscitate were unsuccessful." Li was among a number of supposed "rumormongers" detained in December for spreading news about the virus. He had warned about a potential "SARS-like" virus spreading in Wuhan. Nothing Li said was incorrect, but it came as officials in the city were downplaying the severity of the outbreak and its risk to the public. There were more apparent efforts to control the narrative even after Li's death -- leading to widespread anger. https://www.cnn.com/2020/02/06/asia/li- ... index.html

When we outlawed 'wet' markets centuries (?) ago. We knew that having live wild animals in close proximity let disease run rampant. Then slaughtering those animals frees all sorts of pathogens to propagate everywhere.

These locations have a far higher standard of living and a whole range of practices that make such epidemics less likely. $1: A question though. Why does no one find it strange that the whistle blower in Wuhan was an "ophthalmologist" and not say a, virologist or even a GP It may seem odd but he was working in healthcare, would have been in contact with his colleagues at many levels and could also have seen patients directly affected. China is in some ways like 19’th century Britain, an industrial powerhouse with appalling conditions for many of its workers. It’s also a totalitarian state. Given these serious limitations, the Chinese govt could be doing worse here and has responded more effectively it did in the SARS outbreak.
