Again, who said anything about the sacred angle? You guys see bible-bashers everywhere.
I'm saying "Merry Christmas" not "Blessed be this feast and death to non-believers."
I'm waiting for my Muslim mates to pop around during Ramadan or Eid so I can say "Happy Holidays".
Lets call it what it is.
Merry Christmas!

That used to bother me too Eyebrock. But not anymore. Christmas has long since just become 'a retailers best friend'. It is now the season of 'expectations, disappointments and debt'! Wouldn't bother me a bit if it was totally cancelled,! Personally, I started giving up on Christmas several years ago. Oh, there are a select few people whom I still send a card to, and the only 'gift' that I give is 'of myself, to those in need , but everyone who knows me, knows that until such time as Christmas actually gets back to what it should be, -no more exchanging gifts, family and friends getting together for food, drink and commaraderie,-just like Thanksgiving, not to include me in their 'Holiday Festivities'. I respect their right to 'celebrate' as they wish, and they respect mine. Christmas has become bastardized to the point of being unrecognizable!

I still think I should hear "Merry Christmas" as a greeting when I call a business though. I'm a little tired of this so called democratic country being ruled by minority groups.

People and businesses are choosing to use "Happy Holidays" because they are free to - until further notice.

Streaker Streaker: ziggy ziggy: I'll call bullshit on that one. Fine. Prove that people are being forced to use "Happy Holidays". My sister, who retired after many years working at 'The Bay' brought home a written directive 'to all employees' that they were no longer to wish customers a 'Merry Christmas, rather they would indeed wish customers 'Happy Holidays'. Go check it out for yourself. Not just at the Bay, but at a few other stores, and if they wish you a 'Happy Holiday' ask them why they didn't wish you a MERRY CHRISTMAS Streaker! This greatly upset her as of all the people I know she IS Mrs. Christmas'.
