Do you think BC & Alberta would be better of as a country :?:

With all those rejects from other provinces coming here to BC & Alberta, and no compensation from Ottawa. BC & Alberta must separate and form a new country.

Even Harper (who is from Alberta) is kissing Quebec's ass right now. [kissass]

We don't want their @#$%^& garbage.

HELL NO.

And your main reason is because people needing work are moving to Alberta from the east? The companies in Alberta desperatly need employees and actively recruit in the east even? Doesn't make much sense to me to seperate and make it harder.

Provincial barriers should be broken down, with inter-province trade and such.

On a side note, people moving AND staying here increases Alberta's population and should increase its voting power.

O.K. it was a hypothetical question CKA.

I would like to see a East/West build up of infrastructure, sorta like what President Franklin D. Roosevelt did during the Great Depression for the United States. (I personally think this is one of the reasons why the United States is now an economic power)

Has anyone here driving on hwy #1 between Kamloops and Jasper? A small narrow road which links central BC and Vancouver to the rest of Canada.

I would like to see a toll superhighway from Calgary to Vancouver.

I would love to see the same for the northern territories. The construction of superhighways in Northern Canada, Dams, and so on.

I know our largest trading partner is to the south and most Province trade north/south, but in a way this is what hurt's Canada's unity.

We're supposed to be united as a whole and BC has no reason to separate. We have Quebec for the rest of Canada to laugh at about separation. Does the U.S. complain about certain states wanting to separate? You guys continue to have your wishful thinking.. Meanwhile, Harper is explaining how Quebec would be considered a nation within a nation but explains how we are united as one with no intentions of separation. Separating British Columbia isn't even a thought or an issue in Harper's mind. Why would he break apart the only 10 provinces this country's got?

First of all, although BC and Alberta are neighbours, they're political preferences have been near opposite with the Coastal Province leaning more toward the Liberal/NDP spectrum and the Prairie Province an obvious conservative.
Although the two province's major industries would be more than enough to sustain a small independent nation in terms of export, the small country would undoubtedly fall subject to great foreign ownership if they decided to continue with the FTA and NAFTA (as they would have to for trading purpose and economic survival). In which case, without the financial platform of Toronto and Ottawa, the little country would become another pocket for foreign investors to draw from, denying any local form of governing economy, education and industrial power; the downfall of any nation.
I think it would be in Canada's interest to secure a united front so that our rather large country can continue to promote travel within our provinces, propel our cross-provincial relations in every form and delight in having a uniquely diverse group of local governments contribute to a greater good: Canada.
