The majority of Canadians are responsible and follow our laws. Crime is on the increase and it's wrong that "we" don't have the freedom to buy a gun for protection.

Our government has brainwashed us.

The problem is that license.
Cars kill much more people than guns but you only revoke a license for reckless driving/DUI/etc. But, if I DUI, I can't have a gun. That's totally stupid. The moose does not care

People who are criminals are more likely to disregard the gun laws and get weapons anyways, while citizens who would liek guns don't disregard the law because they are law abiding citizens.

And while at somepoint in the future these law abiding citizens break the law and commit assault, rape, or murder, the people who they are assaiulting, raping, or murdering have the option of purchasing a gun prior to the event for their own protection should the event occur.

And As I said above, with gun laws, the potential assaulters, rapists, and murderers might just disregard the gun law too and aquire a gun for use anyways, leaving the law abiding, unarmed citizen helpless. Even if they only used knives, the defended is probably not as apt with a knife nor isn't allowed to carry one large enough legally to do much damage. Yet still, if someone assualts you with a pistol, a knife isn't going to do much for you unless you are a Ninja or a Jedi.

The ONLY people that should carry guns are law enforcement and subsistence hunters. Period! Anyone else found with a weapon gets 25 years. Farmers etc. that “require” them for pest control, have to take a course and register them.

The idea of arming civilians no matter how noble the intent is, for lack of a better term, NUTS!
