Don't know whether to be happy or sad. Edler scores. Demko gets his first NHL win.

The Canucks have now won 5 out of their last 6 games, and for only the 2nd time this season, the first being in late October, have won 4 games in a row. Having a 4-1 lead with just under 6 minutes to play they had to take the game into OT to finally get the win. Columbus opened the scoring while on the PP at 13:55 of the first period. Archibald then scored at 11:53 of the 2nd, his 4th, assisted by Sautner, followed by Goldobin scoring his 6th at 13:37, assisted by Jokinen. In the 3rd period Jokinen scored his 4th at 5:14, assists going to Virtanen and Horvat. Horvat then scored his 21st at 14:03, a season high for him, assists going to Jokinen and Pouliot giving the Canucks a 4-1 lead. Columbus then scored at 16:02 while on the PP, after pulling their goalie Columbus then scored 2 goals in 16 seconds at 18:23 and 18:39 to tie the score 4-4. Edler then won the game with his 6th of the season at 1:21 into the OT period, assisted by Sutter. Shots on goal were 30-29 in favour of the Blue Jackets who scored on 2 of their 3 PPs while the Canucks went 0/1 on their lone PP. The Canucks next play on Tuesday when they host Las Vegas. If they manage a win over the Golden Knights it will be the first time this season the team will have put together 5 straight wins.

There's a thread on the Sedin's retirement in the news section but this is more for us fans.

A letter from Henrik and Daniel:

$1:
Dear Canucks fans,

Earlier this year we wrote a letter to the city, and to everyone who has supported us for the past 18 years. Many people were asking what the future holds. We said we'd take it one year at a time. We said when the time was right, we'd talk with our families and sit down with management to discuss it.

We started the year with the mindset that a decision would be made in the postseason. But it became clear, after discussions with our families throughout the year, that this will be our last season. This feels right for all of us.

Being part of the Canucks family for 18 seasons has been the best period of our lives. But it's time to focus on our families and life after hockey. It's time to help with homework every night. It's time to be at every birthday party and to stand in the cold at every hockey rink, soccer game and riding lesson on weekends. It's time to be at home for dinner every night.

We're saying it now because we want to share these final three games with you. We also want to share these games with our families, friends, teammates, coaches, trainers, staff and everyone at the Canucks who have supported us. You've all been with us every step of the way, and we want to thank you.

It's time to let the next generation of young players lead the Canucks. Travis is building a strong culture and emphasizes a style of play we know will be successful. The team is in great hands, with people who care about its success and it's headed in the right direction. We know there is a bright future for the Canucks.

As we've said before, Vancouver has become home. This is our family's home. We plan to be part of this community long after we retire. Vancouver has given us so much and we've tried to give everything we have in return. That won't change.

In the meantime, we still have some games to play, and we still have some work to do.

Henrik and Daniel

Las Vegas at Vancouver

80

GOLDEN KNIGHTS (50-22-7) at CANUCKS (30-40-9)

Top-six forwards Jonathan Marchessault and Erik Haula will not be in the lineup when the Vegas Golden Knights try to close the gap for the Western Conference lead, facing the Vancouver Canucks at Rogers Arena on Tuesday.

Marchessault and Haula are being rested by the Golden Knights, who are 8-3-2 in their past 13 games, clinched the Pacific Division title on Saturday and are six points behind the Nashville Predators with three games to play; Vegas holds the tiebreaker with more regulation/overtime wins.

Forward William Carrier is expected to return to the Golden Knights lineup after missing 27 games with an upper-body injury.

Canucks forwards Daniel Sedin and Henrik Sedin will play their first game since announcing Monday they will retire after this season; they will play their final home game with Vancouver on Thursday against the Arizona Coyotes.

The Canucks, eliminated from playoff contention March 14, have won four straight and five of their past six games.

Golden Knights center William Karlsson has nine points (three goals, six assists) in a four-game point streak, and has 13 points (six goals, seven assists) in his past eight games.

Canucks goaltender Jacob Markstrom has won four straight starts with a 1.26 goals-against average and .962 save percentage.

Vegas recalled Pirri on Monday from Chicago of the American Hockey League, where he has 51 points (29 goals, 22 assists) in 54 games. … Leipsic will return after missing five games with a neck injury.

Jokinen has six points (one goal, five assists) in his past four games.

Too bad for the OT loss but what an exciting game it was!

Very classy of the Vegas players to take the opportunity to shake hands with Henrik and Daniel at the end of the game.

I'm happy Goldobin was a bright spot too. I'd almost given up on him.

And Jake just keeps offering more hope as a future power forward. We can use one of those. When he hits his potential he could be dangerous.

Don't be trading him, Jim. We don't need another Cam Neely situation.

What a way to finish the last home game of the season! [B-o]

We went to our local pub to watch the game and I'm so glad I made a reso for our favorite table. The pub was pretty much packed with fans and we all had a hell of a blast! It felt like we were in the playoffs and everyone was going wild throughout the game. Obviously the result meant nothing to the standings but meant everything to those of us who are fans no matter what.

I know there are those that are sad about the Sedins leaving but I'm not. They made their contribution, and it was absolutely fabulous, but now it's time to move on. The future looks brighter than it ever has before and I'm looking more forward to the next season than I have in a long time.

Both the last 2 games have been excellent come back games for the Canucks, on Tuesday, Vegas started the 3rd period with a 3-1 lead, they then scored a 5-3 PP goal at 2:17 to make it 4-1. The Canucks then came back to score 3 unanswered goals, the first at 4:06 by Horvat on the PP, the second by Sutter at 8:21 and finally Goldobin at 10:53 to tie the score 4-4. There was no scoring in the OT period and the SO went to the 8th round before Vegas ended it, taking the game 5-4. Against Arizona, the Coyotes started the 3rd period with a 3-1 lead before Virtanen scored at 1:17, followed by Leipsic at 8:15 to tie the game 3-3, leading again to OT where Danny scored on the PP at 2:33. The Canucks managed to keep Arizona to 0 shots in the 3rd period and out shot them 40-19 in total. These last 6 games have seen some of the best hockey for the Canucks this season, managing to record 11 out of a possible 12 points. Their season comes to an end on Saturday when they play the Oilers in Edmonton.

They were doing the Viking cheer for the Sedins last night.

Only Vancouver should be allowed to do that on this continent from now on. We should apply for the North American copyright. 8)
