Congrats to Flames fans! Good round of hockey. Canucks were overconfident the first couple of games, and then lacked confidence the rest of the way through.

Silver Lining?Utica won their division and the first round of their playoff run. http://www.uticacomets.com/round-1-playoff-notebook/Brendan Gaunce, and Hunter Shinkaruk have been really coming on lately. Those were two we were hopeful for. Two others we have hope for like that are Virtanen and McCann down in the junior Juniors. Their playoffs are over down there so Utica brought them up just to get some face time with the pros. They're in the plan and looking good. http://www.vancouversun.com/sports/hock ... story.htmlI wonder about this guy Sanguinetti. He's an offensive, defense man superstar down at Utica. The Canucks sometimes seem almost disinterested in him. I wonder why. He got a couple overtime goals in the first round of the playoffs. He was an all-star in the regular season. Maybe they're just seasoning him.

Utica won the semifinals and advances to the Western Finals.
There's this 6 foot 5, 200 pound right winger named Alexandre Grenier who's been a playoff star so far. Vancouver drafted him in the third round in 2011.
Brendan Gaunce continues to impress as well.
The Comets advance now to meet the Detroit Red Wings farm club, the Grand Rapids Griffins.

So here's why I think this matters. This is my two year fantasy forecast.
There is now some for real potential down in the minors. We have some moveable assets in the parent club.
No, you can't move the Sedins, but you could replace them as the first line with some playoff contender types and move the Swedes down to the second line where they can pop one in every now and again for a case of "that'll do Pig".

$1: History was made Tuesday night as the Utica Comets advanced to the Calder Cup Finals after they silenced the Grand Rapids Griffins 2-0 in Game 6 of the Western Conference Finals at the Utica Memorial Auditorium. In just their second year as a franchise, the Utica Comets have been awarded the Robert W. Clark trophy for being the 2015 Western Conference Champions. http://www.uticacomets.com/gameday-come ... eries-3-2/Supposedly you can go here... http://ahl.neulion.com/ahl/and sign up to watch the finals online for free. I can't swear to that. I ran into problems. Don't do what I did and start clicking to different pages from the first window looking for a sign in screen. There's a tab to "Sign-up" in the blue banner towards the top of the first window. I think if you use that one you're all right. In any case here's video highlights of the last 2 games. Oh, and Jake Virtanen is for real. I wouldn't be surprised to see him do a Horvat next year.

They lost the first two.
But the score was close both times. They lost in overtime 2 - 1 last time. They should have won. They outplayed them.
The Comets are playing Manchester right, but so far without success. The Monarch's are a high scoring team. They had been averaging 4 points in their playoff run up to meeting the Comets in the finals. Utica has kept the scores low.
My excuse of the day is we're getting no puck luck, or I'll be more desperate and say lack of home ice advantage. Sorry, but it's the best I've got.
Tomorrow they play in Utica at 4 Pacific. Utica sells out even during the regular season. The comets will be getting loud support, so if they still lose, I just don't know.
Manchester is the farm team for the LA Kings.

raydan raydan: You guys do know that the Canucks were eliminated a while ago, right? ![huh? [huh]](./images/smilies/icon_scratch.gif) Hamilton Bulldogs didn't do anything for you Habs fans this year, I take it. That's OK. I hear the franchise is moving to St. Johns. Maybe you'll have better luck there. ![Drink up [B-o]](./images/smilies/drinkup.gif) Did you catch the Memorial cup? Cole Cassels, Woo Hoo. Bet you wish you had one of those coming up in whatever your minor team will be. BTW, did you know we have a Subban ready start in Utica as well? ![Eating Popcorn [popcorn]](./images/smilies/popcorn.gif) Yours says ours is the best.

That must suck. Oh well, maybe next year.

raydan raydan: If deflecting and sugarcoating makes you feel better about being humiliated and eliminated... by the Flames, no less... in the first round, be my guest. Hey, weren't you Canadiens supposed to be "Canada's team", or something. Why is it then, you have to rely so much recently on Vancouver to represent? Finally made it to the playoffs this year did you? Good for you. Too bad your farm team sucks. Oh well maybe next year. So you wandered over to see what a strong bench looks like, did you? Good for you. Enjoy. Hope it helps.

But I suppose die-hard Canucks fans have to cheer for the farm club because we all know the big club isn't going to win the Cup in most of our lives.
