... could be. If they don't buck up this year, they'll be losing to the Bug Tussle Barnacles ... or wherever the Coyotes are going to end up next time.

Canucks to retire Pavel Bure's No. 10 against Maple Leafs

$1:
Vancouver, B.C. – The Vancouver Canucks announced today that Pavel Bure’s number will be retired on Saturday, November 2nd when the Canucks host the Toronto Maple Leafs. Bure’s number 10 will become the fourth retired number in franchise history joining Stan Smyl’s number 12, Trevor Linden’s number 16 and Markus Naslund’s number 19.

The ceremony will air on CBC’s Hockey Night in Canada beginning at 4:00 p.m. Pacific Standard Time (PST). The club first announced plans to honour Bure by retiring his number during the annual ‘Canucks Summer Summit’ season ticket holder event July 23, 2013.

Bure was a member of the Canucks from 1991.92 to 1997.98, playing his first NHL game on November 5, 1991 against Winnipeg. While with the organization, Bure tallied 478 points (254-224-478) in 428 games played. He continues to hold the franchise record for most points scored by a rookie with 60 (34-26-60) in 65 games played in 1991.92 as well as for most career shorthanded goals (24). The Moscow, Russia native also ranks in the top five in franchise history in game-winning goals (32), goals (254) and hat tricks (9). Bure shares the franchise lead in playoff goals alongside Trevor Linden, registering 34 in 60 playoff games with Vancouver. In 1994, his 16 playoff goals set a franchise record for most playoff goals in a playoff year and helped Vancouver to one win shy of a Stanley Cup Championship.

Bure was recognized for his accomplished career by being inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2012. He became the first player to be inducted into the Hall of Fame as a member of the Vancouver Canucks.

Have you had any original thoughts lately? The riot is over and done with aside from those idiots responsible having to face the consequences of their stupidity. Anyone with just a very small smattering if intelligence understands the riot had nothing to do with true hockey fans, no matter what team they may support. Bringing up the riot once again isn't funny or even cute even if you may think so, if you want to contribute anything more to this thread please try to stay on topic, even if you want to disagree with other peoples opinions.

Anybody been following the Prospects?

$1:
The Vancouver Canuck rookies squandered a 1-0 early second-period lead Friday at the Young Stars tournament and fell 4-1 to the Calgary Flames, the defeat a direct result of some undisciplined play in which Vancouver lost total momentum.

The result evened Vancouver’s record at 1-1 while the Flames moved to 2-0 in the Brian Burke era.

I watched bits and pieces, and am encouraged. The Calgary game doesn't matter. It was a back to back game after beating the Sharks the night before.

Last year I was thinking, "Oh dear, after the Sedins and Kesler go, we got nothing. I don't know though. It's different now. I'm starting to have hope for the future.
