I think Pat Quinn should go although I like the guy. The team is mismanaged, Lindros for god sakes? How long did he last and they knew he was damaged goods and he proved them right. Bunch of other old players on the team and Wellwood seems to be the best youngest player or rather potential player. Montreal, Toronto, Boston....seems Boston is more working hard to make the playoffs than those two teams. They were at the top other than Boston and they F'ed it up.

I'm not so sure. Lindros proved his worth in almost every game until he got hurt. They knew it was coming. What really hurt was sundin being out for so long and later Mccabe and tucker. Worst of all was Belfour not playing up to par. They are absolutely playing far beneath what they can and my frustration is immense. To be honest I can't imagine what trade would do any good and dumping Quinn would only single the start of an full roster purging.

Everything suxs in hogstown!

A new coach won't do any good. If Quinn is good enough for the Olympic team, he's good enough for the Leafs. Trading Allison for a decent defenseman...That would have some benefits, especially with Klee, Coliacovo and Berg out at the moment.

Toronto has a professional hockey team? [huh]

Truth be told, they played well above their ability early in the season. Now with a few injuries to some key players (McCabe, who surprised me this season) their true level of play is revealed. Toronto is not a good team and are made worse by losing a couple of guys who actually are pretty good. As far as Belfour is concerned, way past his due date! Either get him off the bottle or back on because he has been brutal this year!

Actually, I'll take that back about Belfour he hasn't been that bad but, the leafs defence without McCabe in the line-up is amongst the worst in the league! The term pylons comes to mind when discussing them!

I don't see the Leafs making any big changes this year. The best thing they can do for their future is give the young guys as much playing time as possible. The last 30 games of a season is no time to start rebuilding your club.

Trading Allison for a defenseman would be a foolish move. You'd get a 2nd line defenseman at best and lose a key offensive player. The Leafs should wait for the free agent market to open before improving their blue liners.

Belfour, while making lots of brilliant saves, is letting in a ton of weak goals too. His play has been very inconsistant and he is no longer winning games for the Leafs. He can't seem to put together 60 mins of solid goaltending anymore.

Stay out of the penalty box! The Leafs are having a hard time keeping their stick on the ice. Many penalties are questionable calls that put the Leafs off their game and force them to play shorthanded but they wouldn't have to worry about any of this if they keep their sticks off their opponents at all times.

I recall at the beginning of the season, the major consensus was that the Leafs weren't expected to deliver very much this year. Many of the bigger contracts will be gone at the end of the season.
Ferguson will be under the more-than-typical microscope once the team has been retired for the season.
For the first time in longer than I care to admit, the Buds seem to have some decent talent sprouting up from the farm both on forward and more importantly on defence. Jay Harrison has been impressive lately not to mention the over-all core of under 25s. Ferguson needs to acquire some 25-30 yr olds with strong and robust work ethics. Their goaltending future looks encouraging as well.
Time for Eddie to pack it in.

I like Belfour. He is/was an awesome player. Like all of us, he is getting old. Time to put Telqvest in, worse case is he gets beat up a bit and grows some character. As for any trades that might make sense, SEE IF ANYONE WANTS FERGUSON. I am sure that we could find a coach that used to be in Montreal that would be good moving upstairs.

@ Ripcat -

How do you rationalize getting a mediocre defenseman in exchange for what could be considered a first-line centre?

They were good against the Devils in the first period, but after that....pfff.

Ya I heard pitsburgh is thinking of moving to Hamilton... people in Toronto can drive down and watch them play... ( yes I know they suck) but at least the penguins won the cup twice in the 90's

It's all about the coaching!

Pat Quinn is unable to adapt to the "new" NHL.

Why are skilled players like O'Neill and Czerkawski healthy scratches?

Dumb, dumb and dumb.
