Another oldie. Luke is what, 37? The Toronto Maple Leafs need a complete overhaul, starting from the top, namely the GM and coaches.

I just posted this in Dayseed's thread. Re:John Ferguson:
What were you expecting was going to happen before the trade deadline?
Did you see his(John Ferguson) interview on TSN during the Leaf/Habs game Monday? He said they were looking to build with youth and if you read between the lines there were going to be no big trades. Luke's time with the Leafs will be to help develop the young defensemen coming up while Kaberle and McCabe focus on playing.
Klee was traded for a prospect and draft pick which equals youth.
I'm thinking Belfour will be paid his 1.5 million to walk away at the end of the year.
I also predict that Pat Quinn will be moving on after this season and a coach that is more youth friendly will be brought in.

Which is why I said this: The Toronto Maple Leafs need a complete overhaul, starting from the top, namely the GM and coaches.
It's nice Fergusons focusing on building up with youth but that is not the whole problem. Years of corruption and mismanagment (the least of which gambling on damaged goods such as Lindros and Czerkawski) doesn't help matters much. Fresh new faces are whats needed. It might also help for the organization to carefully scout out prospects like the Senators did and build their team from that. Look where the Senators are today?

Sure Tman, but then if the Leafs don't have instant success people will be screaming to trade promising prospects for proven veteran players....it's just a vicious cycle when it comes to the Leafs and their fans...

Once you guys start to fully realize that It's not the team... the coaches.. or the management that sucks... It's all you leaf fans.... for 40 years they've pulled the wool over your eyes... Ballard, Maple leaf entertainment.. For 40 years the blue and White have fleeced your pockets and left you lying in bed the next morning with a hangover and the empty bottle shoved in your Ass.. You have no one to blame but yourselves... If you guys stopped cheering for them and acting like the energizer bunny on speed whenever they sign a senior citizen player ( just for the experience) or a bill of injured goods... uhm everyone they brought in this year....
Everything they do is geared to pull you and your money further apart.. but you keep on cheerin for that blue and White.. cuase they'll make changes... ya.. in a Fat Quinn's eye they will..... they probably give Quinn and fergie extensions. for screwin the faithfull out of your hard earned money... they don't care about the fans... and they never will.
Out here in Vancouver 1996 on to 2000 they sucked fans stopped supporting them.. bang changes.. same things in Ottawa, Montreal Edmonton and Calgary.. when things aren't going well and they keep doing things that impact your pocketbook but do nothing in return.. the fans need to act and demand that the corporate entity that supports them gets rid of these lucklustre idiots.. until you do that.. enjoy watching geriatric hockey and the inept Pat and Fergie show... cuase it isn't going to change.. Think oh that the next time you pay $300 for a ticket to the ACC shell out $150 for beer and Food.. another $500 on jerseys and trinkets.. "Did Matsundin actually sign this scrap of toilet tissue".. Wow.. only $900 eh I'll take it... And the Come out against the NY islanders and Lose 7-2.. becuase Belfour had a bad day... and the rest of the team took the night off.. Remember as Fans you can get mad... just make sure your maddness is pointed in a collective right direction... Stop buyin the shit.. stop buyin food there.. watch the game on TV if you have too... or don't watch it at all... All Maple Leaf entertainment is doing is playing you guys for the suckers you are they know your passionate about your leafs... but they don't care.. so hit them in the pocketbook.. thats the only way they'll notice and care....

The Leaf ownership has collected less than $50 dollars of my hard earned cash in my 30+ years as a fan...I'm a lifer...nothing you can say will change that...and I won't be laying out any real cash until they bring me the Cup.

No, yes but they were gifts nothing costly(t-shirts, mugs, playing cards, xmas tree ball, puck), not in a long time, yes.
I don't see what pubs and TV have to do with it anyways...I'm not going to stop watching them just because they aren't the Cup champs...it would be silly to deny myself hockey...all the other teams' games are blacked out...It doesn't make any sense to be a fan of a team you can never watch play....
The Leafs are my 'home' team...
I have no respect for fair weather fans...

Not fair weather at all .. all I say is when the team stops listening to it's bread and butter.. uhm thats you and every other leaf fan out there.. then there is a problem. I am not a leafs fan but it pisses me off when I see corporations and multi million dollar players handing you a bill of goods then asking you to pay for it... The reason I said TV and pubs is becuase they get paid... I need my hockey fix too don't get me wrong.. when the Canucks or the oilers piss me off I write email... but I still listen to the game on TV but I refuse to watch pay per view.. or attend games... but I still am passionate about my teams not a bandwagoner or fairweather.. just I get tired of the collective nights off, lack of effort and inept management... Now we have Nonis... burke was good better that anyone before him.. Nonis has proved to be good to... but Fergie is making Randy Sexton look like a genius (he was the guy in ottawa, they ran out of town on a rail) thank god they have Muckler...
Lets see Muckler in Ottawa, Gainey in Montreal, Lowe in Edmonton, Sutter in Calgary, nonis in Vancouver... and Fergie Jr. in Toronto... I feel so sorry for you leaf fans...
You need to blow up everything and start over...
Keep all the young talent you have.. telquist, Wellwood etc, even keep Lindros, tucker and Sundin... but get rid of everthing else.... from management to coaching.... and some of that high priced help that is destroying the leafs.. You guys were once proud... now when people think of the leafs.. the picture ain't so pretty...

Twister, you are one of the reasons that Toronto will always be the center of the hockey universe...
It's funny how people who claim not to be Leaf fans spend so much time talking about the Leafs....
btw, why is that?

Don't get me wrong RipCat.. I didn't like Winterpeg when the jets were around but not to the point of cheering thier move to Pheonix.. I think that for the most interest in the game we need all 6 canadian cities Montreal, Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary edmonton.. and yes even Toronto.. in the playoffs every year without fail.. Good elite.. top well run hockey in Canada thats all I want.. Total domination of the hockey world, nothing less...It really fries me when 1 of the canadian clubs doesn't make it but a place like nashville or carolina is there....

It is time for the maple Leafs and their fans to eat a big piece of humble pie and see that they have one of their worst teams in years.
They cannot just depend on the businesses to buy all the seats up at the ACC, and feel that they have to put a good team on the ice to satisfy the "real" hockey fans out there.
Montreal may not have the greatest team either, but at least the fans fill the Bell Centre and have more sellouts that the ACC.
That is the main difference!!
That is why I get RDS on my satalite dish so I can see all the Canadiens games!!!!!
Real fans will go and see their team and support it!!!!!

That's for sure. I'm not much of an Oiler fan, but the people here go out and buy tickets for this team like crazy. Most nights it either sold-out or SRO.
Call it schadenfraude if you will, but I'm glad the Leafs are down on their luck. Now maybe I will get to watch other Canadian teams (like the Senators and Habs) play...

Now, now.. Don't be to hasty here! Just put Belfour on the bench and make way for an up n' coming on strong, Tellquist, who could proov to be the new key player they so desperately need on their own back end!
