The Nordiques really pissed me off! They sucked since their creation, so they had all the draft picks, and they moved the very same year that they got all the amazing players and the Cup. Piss off if I ever saw one.

I honestly cant remember the Nordiques when I was a kid, I only remember switching allegiances every day. One day I would cheer for Boston because of Andy Moog, than I would cheer for Buffalo, then the Penguins but one team I always got pissed off at because they were so damn good were the Oilers. I cant explain that anger I just got mad whenever I saw them play on T.V.

I don't really care if the NHL dies in the US. If it did then some teams would move to cities that have serious fans; places like Winnipeg, Quebec City and Hamilton.

I really like the idea of Giuliani and Maurice Strong starting a new league. Good luck to 'em!

I hope this works out... I would hate to see another XFL

That's a scary thought, Mario!

I'd love to see a new league, a new WHA or IHA or whatever they wanna call it, but it's true that upstart leagues have a bad track record. An XFL type of hockey league would be really awful.

Why would teams move back to cities that already lost their teams? Grow up would you.

 It's not a question of me growing up, NYC. It's about the NHL and NHLPA having respect for their fans, of which there are far more in places like Winnipeg, Quebec City and Hamilton than in those "hockey hotbeds" of Nashville, Raleigh-Durham, Atlanta etc...

At least we won't have to put up with teams like Nashville, Florida, and the rest of those shit teams in the south.

I truly hope it works... The NHL has been on the decline for sometimes. THe money has always been the main focus. Maybe there is something to be learn from the other Canadian ice sport... Curling. Money is obviously not been an object for the players. On top of that, they have been sharing their knowledge with other countries to level the playing field. On an american point of view, you could call us stupid to put those gold medal at risk.

Back to the IHL, sound like a great idea. Lets see if those player are ready to take a pay cut.

Oh noooooo ESPN. Who cares, as long as Hockey Night In Canada resumes with a spiffy new tune, I dont care if America watches or not its our sport and to downgrade it by concerning ourselves on whether or not a foreign broadcaster shows it or not is pitiful. Besides, American hockey fans dont like it, they can subscribe to CBC or Rogers sportsnet or TSN.

Dude the problem with not haveing a viable tv contract is that the fans are still gonna have too pay outrageous amounts of cash for these games to pay player contracts which will still be high at least for the time being,

MOTHER FUCKING NO! Who cares what the AHL fans wan't? Who cares what the GM of the Islanders thinks, or the Bruins, or the Canucks. THIS IS WHAT AMERICANS DO TO EVERY SPORT! They turn the beautiful sport of hockey into some scorefest like basketball. Who likes shootouts? Everyone knows that a shootout is not an effective way to end a game. Remember the Womens international Torunament? The biggest fraude ever! Canada had not one GA the entire tourny and lose on a shootout. How is that in ANY way excting? A bloody disgrace. Fuck the NHL. FUCK EM! I'm going to see if I can subscribe to a chanle that covers the regular season of the CHL. Anyone know any?

I have nothing against Americans, but why do we have to change OUR game to make it more interesting for our southern neighbors?

Why does the NHL have to be a high scoring sport? WHat ever happened to the 1-0 grudge match rock'em sock'em games we used to see? I am sorry but I am of the same belief of hockey as Don Cherry. Keep it rough, keep it low scoring and may the best grinding and cycling team win!!!!!!!!

lets see.. why don't we replace the ice with hardwood floors.. make the nets as big as soccer goals.... make the puck smaller but have it in a color that off sets it (better than black on white)

hmmm how else could we f**k the game we grew up with..

oh I know.. we could give the decision making power to a meely nouthed 5'0" tall jerk with a napolean complex and his team of strident do whats right for the league and our owners crap.... Oh and then we could get a no holds barred ex college player who has no sense of the economics of the league or the game 10% of a player group that make over 2 million dollars a year who will whine insessently when any talk of downscaling thier paychecks happen.. Screw all the younger players and all the others cause johnny dinkus's paycheck at 5 million a season is much more important...

Oh shit ..that 's exactly what we have..... so to the NHL and the NHLPA.. go to hell.. the game will survive not becuase of you assholes and your ideas to make the game better but because it is the national game of our country and many people all over the world love it..

So to Gary Bettman and Bob Goodenow.. Please F**k Off take your lawyers Brett Hull and all the other loud mouth arrogant a**holes who are out there with you.. You want money playin a sport.. go play baseball or basketball.. oh sorry too late for you well then retire and open a line of hullsy donut shops or something... Not impressed at this year.. not impresses by the league our their greedy owners or players.. It's the fans who pay and its the fans who every year take it up the ass with higher prices... Enough said.. I'm out..

SadBlue SadBlue:
Today I heard some of the worst news in a very long time. I don't have the story to link, but, apperently ESPN (The large sports broadcaster from the US) has cancled their TV contract for next season, if their IS a next season. Now, though ESPN probably doesn't have a larg Hockey audience (And that fucking fox-puck pisses me off!) but they still paid a assload of money for the contract. Now, with the NHL missing an entire season, and the loss of ESPN, can the NHL even survive, let alone have a next season? I guess it was waiting to happen...

Anyone's thoughts? The NHL boned for good now, or is just a temporary set back?

ESPN is a corporation just like the rest of them brother. Simply put, they didn't resign on the current contract because that was based on normal league operations. They are hoping to resign at lower levels due to the lockout. Period. End of story. This forum is complete. hehe.. ;) for real.

I've got the solution its called "Arena Hockey" Make it so that the puck India rubber ball super ball,or whatever is always in play
No offsides no icing.Have a new version of "the Trap"
Sticks that are a cross between a hockey stick, and a lacross stick
Oh yeah no penalties.and no substitution if a player is injured, except the goalie
Beer is free only escorted out if you puke
Game last only 30min.Overtime the players fight it out for the win

Only problem with the idea is that "americans don't like fighting in thier sports" non no no.. we can't have the tendereyes of the us fans watching such henious violence... thats what the league will tell you.
The culture that brought you UFC, the WWE heavyweight boxing... Nascar.. ya people only go to watch the cars go round and round... they're looking for the accidents the explosions.. all that..
can't handle a sport where two players may square off for a 30 sec tussle.. cuase thats too violent for them.. give me an F'ning break.....

Can't follow the puck it's too small etc etc etc.. if you don't want to watch the game fine shut it off don't go.. but please shut the hell up. If you like baseball... go watch baseball basketball etc.. There's so much of a brutual history of violence in hockey... hmm yes there has been a history but lets see.. how many bench clearing brawls have there been in hockey in the past 20 years.. maybe 5 total.. how many in baseball.. football.. basketbrawl...... hu hu hu.. how do you like them apples....

Too small????? The Americans love to focus in on those small balls.
Just look at how they bring out the cameras to focus on a "golf ball" 8)
